to be or not to be tattooed???
bad idea?

The eye(Im guessing) part is pretty cool, but the straight two lines going all the way back to your shoulders looks really odd...

it doesnt look too bad but ya it's your choice in the end. And you cant be any worse than the guys covered in it.

the fact that you are asking for opinions online due to two people saying that the tattoo (designed by you) is ugly shows that you are not even sure of doing it... rofl.
on the serious note, you say that you'd probably not regret getting it. i wouldn't get a tattoo if i'm not definitely sure about it. I have friends who get tattoos; they thought it for a while and truly love it when they do get it.

The two opinions you mentioned:
random skank - probably has chiniese character for peace(actually says dog poo) and a tramp stamp.
tattoo artist - is jealous and annoyed that you don't want one of his designs. after all, he is an "artist".

Chinese characters are overrated, you don't see us Chinese people walking around with tattoos that say "Peace" in English (actually you do)
But seriously, they are overused. Only chinese speaking people have the right to use chinese characters for tattoos.

Frist off, that guy was an ass, he had no right telling you your tattoo design was bad. It's your body if you want to get it get it screw anyone who has a problem with it. Personaly I have no tattoo's but I want to get a dragon tattoo across my whole back.

ehh... I'm really no tattoo fan, never have been one, many people just do it and then they have to get surgery after years when it gets boring to remove it, I think too preciously of the human body to do that, the human body is perfect as it is for me and the most beautiful in its natural state, there are some really good tattoos out there but that belongs on the paper in my opinion not under the human skin. Its your body, I dont especially hate it but youve got nice skin and it would be a pity in my opinion.i also think preciously of the human body! how weird is that... i also think that the body is most beautiful perfect form but i dont think that tattooing it ruins that i think a tattoo should work to emphasize the beauty of the whole body. People have been getting tats for centuries but everyone thinks they are just a trend. i cant understand how this:

can be seen as anything less than art. Its completely normal for humans to want to play around and modify their bodies. This dude was skinned because of the art that was his skin after getting that tattoo- it was precious so it was preserved.
i know i want to get a tattoo and i know what the design should be but im asking because i am willing to change it and make it better- basically i need criticism. and since all of my friends are out of reach right now im asking the next best thing- my forum mates. And you've been so kind as to give me your opinions guys- awwwwww i luv uuu
btw that woman didnt have chinese symbols but the world ENVY on the inside of her forearm...she told me she really regretted it- i just looked at her and said "oh...." cause...yeah...it is regrettable

i meant i told you that they make your arms look skinny lol.
You should get some food into ya'
heh, nah, but seriously, if you tweaked the design, put up a pic, we shall see.. try to give it a less straight line down your arm as the other dude said.. will avoid making your arms looks skinnier than they are :D

Spoiler:
I see your point and everybody has a different view on it, for me that drawing on the picture wouldve been equally beautiful if it was on a piece of paper instead under the human skin. People have been modifing their bodies yes, but that doesnt mean that its healthy for them or their bodies, there are women in africa that use that those necklaces made of steel to strech their necks, but fact is it isnt healthy, its just culture, and culture has been known to make people do pretty stupid things... Honestly youre just fine without a tattoo, also if you think about it deeply enough you will realize that you probably will get surgery to remove it one day since a tattoo just keeps getting uglier as the skin ages, also people who have a big tattoo are even known to get skin cancer in extreme cases so... For your sake I would reccomend you not to, you look prefectly fine without it.

Spoiler:
1. sorry but you obviously don't see my point if you're telling me to think about it deeply enough- im getting a full body tattoo in the future...how could i possibly not think about the effects my aging will have on it? that would make me a dumbass which i am not. i dont intent getting it removed and a tat can always be refreshed- you gotta take care of it.
on that note- i love oil paint- do you have any idea how toxic that shit is? how many painters have gone mad or have permanent neurological damage because of it? also- my family has very cancer loving genes- i have nothing to run away from...
2. no, it wouldn't be equally beautiful- im not saying its better just different- think of the texture of paper and that of the skin. also the materials used- pencil/ink/pastels/any kind of paint or drawing material really- they sit on the paper or soak into it- but always cover the surface at least a bit. now think of the way the slight transparency of the skin would look in relation to the inks injected under its first and thinnest layer- VERY different effect...
3....the ink settles in the dermis layer of the skin not under it you cant tattoo your muscle smarty-panties
i know i look ok without it but i dont really care about looking ok- i see my body just like you see a piece of paper. its something for me to explore via shape and form- just space. im doing it because i like it im actually curious to see how its going to age with me and change, maybe i dont find that process ugly. and if i actually live to be old i dont think ill care too much.
i wish i hadnt argued back just cause i really hate doing that buuuuut im bored and i see your view on this topic ass being a teeny-bitty narrow

It doesn't matter what others think, if you like the design...if it means something to you, then get it done. And that's that.
If you are having doubts about it, hold off for a few months to make sure its really what you want.

Spoiler:
1. You know the topic says "to be or not to be tattooed???" basically youre asking opinions from others, I dont see how its useful to deny my opinion and reject it while I was only trying to give you my perspective of it, whether you accept it or not was your free choice you didnt have to shit on me because of that, you asked for other opinions yourself you know. Since you behaved like an ass I will tell you, yes from my point of view its pretty dumb to do an all body tattoo despite the fact that you know that it could endanger your health, also knowing that you have a high chance of having cancer makes it even worse. I dont really belive that youre going to be into tattoos anymore once youre 50(if you even live that long with that kind of thinking) also as skin ages sure you can refresh it but you cant really refresh the skin just the paintng and I'd like to see how cool a tattoo will look on some old wobbly skin when you see the cellulite.
2.You said you appreciate your body? You could have added that you appreciate it as a piece of paper, honestly if someone wants to see art on skin its not that hard to get some animal skin and to paint on it. For me the body itself is already artistic enough, obviously we dont share the same view, you say you see the skin just as a empty platform to draw on, well I dont. You have other kinds of art available if you appreciate tattoos on an artistic basis, you dont necessarily have to damage your own body for it.
3. Yes, even if biology isnt my stronger side, even I know some basics, the skin has 3 layers: dermis, epidermis and hypodermis(so when I said under the skin I meant the first layer, I thought you woudnt be so bitchy about it). I dont need someone to teach me biology here, especially not someone who obviously doesnt major in it, but while we are at it let me tell you this, the skin is the lagest human organ, it absorbs, protects from heat, is used as storage and so on and I dont think that putting ink(which equals posion in big amounts) into it so you can have a fancy painting all over your body is worth it, if it was small it wouldnt matter that much, but going as far as a full body one isnt really the best deicison you can make.
Let me tell you that this is my opinion, it is always up to you what you do with your body, but if youre gonna ask for other peoples opinions and advices and act bitchy like this after someone tells you what they think and it doesnt suit your taste, you can stick your tattoo up your ass and fuck off.

So anyways...
Going back on topic.
That tattoo honestly reminds of shin megami tensei (nocturne, I think? The one that had dante in it). I think it would look ok, but because its such a long piece, them tattoo by itself would looks weird, especially with your frame. As others had said, it would just give the illusion that your arm is real fucking long.
If you do end up getting it, then I would say to either get it in sections, or to have something accenting it as it goes down your arm.

Spoiler:
Whether you named your topic to appeal people with it or not is completely unrelated, the topic you wrote about is about the design of your tattoo and asking other people about their opinions on it or on tattoos generally, as for that matter I kindly replied saying what my opinion was, after that I got a message that explained about the history(partly) and the meaning of tattoos, I just implyed that it isnt healthy to do an all body tattoo and that if it was a cultural thing, that it isnt worth it or if its art that there are other ways to express yourself, I also said that our view differs and that I understand your point (so basically I already stated that I dont completely agree with you and instead of you repeating it you coulve read a little more carefully). As for the part of sounding bitchy, you can also express yourself with different words that capture the meaning more precisely and dont make you sound like an ass if you dont agree with something.
Well please let me prove to you know that after all you dont seem to know a "jack shit" what im talking about and what can endager your skin and health. Next time I'd prefer that you dont give out some unresearched half-assed information if you dont know anything about it, todays tattoos are made with ink (which consists of chemicals that can be non healthy in big amounts and therefore i recommended a smaller tattoo, here for your own sake http://www.naturalnews.com/022073.html ), in the past (like you showed me on the picutre) the color was made out of natural things like plants or leafs and it was completely harmless. So rather than putting my own ethical belief as priorty I put your health, it was a gesture that I did beacuse you said you had poor genes anyway so it doesnt get worse.
As for my view on art, I appreciate it greatly, my uncle majored in art so I was around paintings and drawings all the time, I know that tattooing is a way of expression as well in art, but I dont prefer using my body for something I can do on a piece of paper.
In this last paragraph I will just say this, insulting someone or agressivly talking to someone, shows a kind of behaviour that I dont intend to tolerate if I'm giving advice since it, no matter in what form it is, or how kind the word is, shows pretty much what youre thinking about it, so whether you use the word shit or poop doesnt really matter to me for example. And yes fakku is more or less a webpage that shows acceptance (with some exceptions lol) but also a place where you will meet resistance if you talk shit, so yes welcome to the club. Plus, putting it in spoilers and acting how you dont care just shows how much you want to hide it and not continue the conversation that you cant win.
