Trip to Japan - Wat Do?

Yoyogi park on a weekend is a must. Go pet some doggies, feed the pigeons, and watch the shows! Ueno park is great too, because all the main cultural attractions are there. Sanrio Puroland...well, unless you're a fan of Hello Kitty and all things cute and squishy, I'd skip that. It is really cute though! Another awesome thing is the Studio Ghibli Museum in Mitaka. If you are into jazz at all, Tokyo is awesome for that, and I'd definitely visit Cafe Samurai in Shinjuku and stare at the kitties while swinging.

In Kyoto, Kinkaku-ji is a must. A must! After you visit the temples and palaces during the day, hit up Gion to take pics with the geiko and Pontocho for the bars and entertainment. Go look at stuff in the Nishiki Market too, if you have time.

Heh, me and my bro will be landing around 4pm, about when people start getting off work to my understanding... and if that's not enough, we're going through shinjuku station to our hotel- the BUSIEST station in the bloody world.

I do have a question on the technological side of things, though might need to ask in the Tech. forum.
Japan's wall outlet voltage is supplied at only 100 volts compared to the US which is 120. While my laptop's charger is rated at 100-240(and 50-60Hz), it has a grounding prong.

I've heard it's rare to find very many outlets in Japan that support 3 sockets. Does anyone know if this is the case? If so, would a simple 3-to-2 prong adapter work in my situation?

yup you can use that, simple 3 to 2 prongs will works.. it only differ in form and i'm sure your laptop will doin fine.. about voltage, i see no problem..

The adaptor also cannot have polarized plugs, which is to say that one prong cannot be shorter than the other. Some N. American plugs have one prong smaller than the other prong, these don't work in japan as they simply will not fit into the outlet.

Anything else, as long as it is two pronged it is fine. Although, if it is something like a hair dryer and it is a 120v than the worst thing that will happen is you'll notice it doesn't blow as hot. The equivalent happens with everything else so maybe your laptop might take longer to charge. Small things like phones don't seem effected imo.
