USA. a ship not worth saving??
-1

you know, reading through nekos thread just now about income inequality ive become rather disgusted, I mean I knew it was abd but thats worse then expected, but the thing that really pissed me off is this.
Spoiler:
its people like this that are the reason our country is going to hell, and if that many people have the mindset, I say get the hell out and let it burn. this is just sickening

Ano...Tachyon lives somewhere in Europe, I believe? But I do agree that people who only think of themselves and short-term gain are THE problem. I know it's human nature to do so--we are the single, most destructive species on this planet--but still.
I don't think the USA is beyond saving, but it will take years and years of shifting away from the "me me me" and short-term mindset that many USA-ians have.

Not just us American folk. It's human nature to think of the self before the rest.
It just seems that being one of the big boys on the block (Along with the other huge countries, China, UK, France, Russia etc) means we get to be scrutinized more.
What's so wrong with wanting to make it big? To be rich (With a side-dish of powerful) Welcome to natural human behavior.
Granted, there are those who break that particular paradigm, and think of others before themselves, but even most of those probably give to charity to get tax breaks.
It's a pessimistic way to think to be sure, but it doesn't make it less true.
Anyway, thing is, all nations (And peoples within them) have their own issues. No one is beyond 'saving' But instead of asking for others to do it for you, figure it out yourself.

Americans have a very particular kind of narcissism and selfishness though, I noticed. I suppose it is tied to the notion of rugged American individualism. I've lived elsewhere and I haven't seen this kind of stuff in countries with a more collectivist mindset.

The USA. We have a lot of potential here. Some of the largest diversity out of the majority of country. A good portion of the wealth. Some of the largest amounts of interaction out of the majority of countries with the majority of countries. Especially for being overseas from most of them.
And much more. I mean, we have so much of what could make an awesome country. And we have shown that potential in the past.
But yes, the biggest problem tends to be the short sighted aspect. We want results, and we want them now. And we're not willing to wait for them.
Which is not surprising since we are a very young country relatively, and yet we rose so freaken fast compared to pretty much everywhere else.
We're use to going fast. But we've gotten to the point where we expect it too fast.
And unfortunately for most politicians who want to make the difference, they can't make it fast enough for us. So they either have to appease and make sacrifices, or they are booted out before they finish what they wanted to.
And then you get the ones who take advantage of the short term mentality.
And this happens with both parties, so there is no "Oh those Republicans did it." Or the "Oh those Democrats did it."
No, it's both sides who have done things like this.
I think the first thing that would need to be done. Is fix how the freaken budget is done. Before we can do anything else, we need to start fixing this budget. If we can do that, so much of the problems we face would be so much easier and faster to deal with.
But don't kid yourself in thinking this is just American though.

All empires collapse, it's just a matter of when, not if. I don't see how we will be any different. In the meantime, enjoy the run whilst it's still possible to do so.

My country is not going to hell. And if so, I would just emigrate to somewhere else.
But back to topic; I really have to say that IMO the USA is a shit worth shaving.

Worth saving? There is nothing to save. We are just so sucked into the media age that we think everything is falling apart. I mean come on spoiler alert ~ shit goes bad sometimes ~ then media takes advantage of the uneducated/feared people get their ratings up , then politicians take advantage of it so they could get into office and the list just goes on which makes shyt a mess. USA may not be "#1" for long/forever but who cares let other countries step up and help progress humanity instead of pointing nuclear warheads at each other because we disagree with their government system or economic model.
Like kgods said all empires collapse; however USA stands on it's principles, not land/territory, power or wealth. (Even though it seems that way since we have so much of each and now are starting to lose some which is why it causing such a panic and stir) So even if the Union some how get dissolved, countries get relabeled , maps get rewritten. As long as our core ideals remain such as the 1st amendment and , life , liberty, pursuit of happiness; USA will still live on through those countries.
That's my take on the matter.

i see what you mean here, but i jsut have a hard time seeing enouge of us change and start thinking realistically before we pass the point of no return.

We're not that close to the point of no return you know.
In fact. It probably wouldn't take us that long to do anything if we actually set out to fix it. We just don't want to endure the initial set out at all.
But I don't think it's impossible to get people to do it either though.

It was a terrible terrible accident, I deeply apologize with all my heart.
As I see the topics of this thread could be as well discussed in existing threads like "What are the major problems with the American budget?" and "Income Inequality in the US".
Therefore the question is rightfully asked: Why a new thread? Just to hate on me collectively? :( You'd better help Kalistean with his poor photo-editing skills.
There is no need for all of this. I am very capable of seeing reason if presented with the proper arguments. I don't want bad blood with anyone here (apart from Kalistean and neyapuckachinha), this is a Hentai/Anime forum after all, not stormfront.^^

I'm sorry that you are an idiot that accuses me of ridiculous stuff I never did and never seems to get the point of anything that is said and cannot seem to comprehend simple things.
There, I apologized.

Fixed. If you like, post them, but post the whole "conversation" please. I would post it myself, but that would be bragging.
@Kalistean:
It is not my problem that you are a 35-year old unemployed and uneducated troll. Our "chats" are very amusing, and you are very interesting to me since I have got no such people like you in my social environment. It must be an US-exclusive thing.

"I don't know anything about you but I'm going to think all sorts of things and call them insults."
You don't have someone willing to call you on your idiocy? That must be why it's so rampant in yourself.

Haha, you're kind of funny. Kind of. I like how pretentious you can be, when you have no reason to. But I won't argue with someone that judges people solely based on his imagination.
Also, those PMs are like love letters, I will keep them and re-read them when I start to have too much faith in humanity.
@Kalistean : Do you see what he fixed? I don't...I must be stupid.
