Personally, I would say it should be something of a solid color for a prom.
But with the right combo, I think that can be pulled off.
Also, your date, assuming that you have one, would have to match to some degree as well. That would be easier to doif you were wearing more solid colors instead of a pattern design.

Some people may give you an odd look, but considering you wear Lolita to school, some people may actually expect you to wear a Lolita dress for prom.

Hmm, it does look good, but while I realize lolita clothing brands (and even DIY) can be costly, I'd go for something sleeveless for a prom.
