If you're forced to work overtime due to your co-workers tardiness then clock out 10 minutes overtime and tell your boss why, and let him discuss it with her.Or, just stop bitching, it's not that big a deal.
I wish I could simply clock ten minutes overtime, but my manager would view it as negligence on my part and not my more favored co-worker. It's a hilarious mind fuck because the manager asked them to come in about ten to twenty minutes early(while still on payroll, mind you) and they had difficulty doing that despite the fact that they live down the street. He had to ask this co-worker of mine to come in early even though it's expected of us and we still get paid for that 10 minutes.
It's to ensure that the person you're relieving has time to end their shift on time most days. I was frustrated because not only does this co-worker barely arrive on time whenever they're scheduled to work the shift after mine/anyone's for that matter, they have a bad attitude towards the job. I'm obviously now reporting any bullshit they pull to the manager and not reacting to it. In a perfect world, I'd be able to politely ask why they were late or so on without having it shoved down my throat.
But, I work with children and must act accordingly from now on. I thought more highly of them than I should have and I learned my lesson. No loss on my part, but it's just so disappointing.
