What is the best way to study?

Just listen attentively to your Prof. That's what I do.
I don't even need to study most of the time and I get pretty good grades.

Music helps me. Specifically with earphones/headphones. I have to block absolutely everything out in order for me to study, that's what gets me in the zone. And make sure to take breaks, because without doing that you're going to overwhelm yourself and fill your head too much and then you won't want to study for the rest of the day, or at least until later.
It's also important to find out when exactly is the best time for you to study; some people can concentrate better early in the morning refreshed after having slept, for some people it's the afternoon and for others even night time. If I have to study I like to start early in the morning until midday and then review later or do some more studying - it really depends what it is you have to study for and how much you need to do. Organise your days effectively so you get study time, breaks and fun time, even make a schedule for each day and try to stick to it.

Well Masturbation or Sex is always good advice. Do it before you start studying and you'll realise your mind is now empty of distractions. (Just don't have a porn mag or a hentai book besides you during the time your studying).

I recommend you find a quiet place, surrounded by plants, and with lots of natural light, and a gentle breeze, to help you calm your nerves to help you concentrate on your studies. It works for me when I have problems near midterms/finals, but I am not sure if it'll work or not for others. Worth a shot.

1. If you're learning from a book, don't underline stuff. Instead, grab a notebook. Write down keywords, but not too many. If you can recall what an entire paragraph was about from seeing the 1-5 words you wrote down, you mastered that part. If you don't remember, read the part again.
2. Sleep. Seriously. I start at midnight and study until I'm REALLY tired, after 2 hours ussualy, then I sleep for 15 minutes or so. Studying for hours is not productive. you need mental breaks. What's better at relaxing the brain than sleep? And the sleep is a rest, as well as a reward, Which your sleep-deprived self looks forward to. The sight of the reward you'll get for enduring 1-2 hours will keep you going. Be careful though. I hope you have a deafeningly (is that a word) loud alarm or you're screwed. High risk, if you don't have one. And never ever decide to sleep five more minutes, because those can and will turn into hours.
I've always been a quick learner, which goes well with my lazyness. That's all it took me to memorize a 250 page book 3 months ago in just 12 hours ( sleep included ). And i still remember 80% of it. I started with 0% because I missed a LOT of the subject due to sicknesses throughout the year.

1. Minimize your vampire night awakening habit, sleep early...
2. Minimize your fapping/fingering habit...
3. Maximize your social life...
4. Throw your porn magazine, maybe leave a handful favorites...
5. Minimize your mmorpg game time...
6. Have a american pie chart schedule...
7. Have will to study normal, don't force yourself if you have in no mood its not good.
8. Have sound on minimum so you won't distract you more, just keeping you alive i mean awake.
9. Have a poster saying "Is studying" so your colleagues or family member won't knock you on your door. It would destroy your focus.
10. Finally a 2 alarm clock, 1 for time to sleep to destroy your focus, and another is time to wake up. If your still not wake up set the other one to your morning too.

Don't listen to music or have any distractions, go to a quiet area, and stay focused.Actually, in some cases, music is extremely helpful. It works for me, and research has proven it. But it entirely depends on the person. And the type of music

Do your studying a a public place like the library, in your university, cafe, etc. You will feel more compelled to work in environments like that.

Under stress and pressure, if you want the best of results you should do it a few hours before the test.

Here's what works for me. Hope it'll work for you aswell.
- Attend all classes and take notes
- Have someone, either yourself, a friend or maybe your mom read it outloud
- Try visualize what you've just read
- When you go to learn don't check fakku, facebook or any sort of social network (maybe disconnect internet if necessary)
- Don't listen to music. You'll remember less of the learning material
- Don't take short breaks. most teachers will suggest you to often take short breaks. The part I find hardest on studying is finding the motivation to get started. It resets that motivation for me

I tend to study on my own in a quiet calm place. I use repetition, mnemonics, flash cards, and helpful videos for auditory and visual aids since a lot of my studies use applied practice.

All I really do is just memorization for 15 minutes, break for 5 minutes, then a pop quiz. Rinse and repeat, memorizing the things I got wrong the most.

Billions of sticky notes, and index cards, as well as detailed schedules. I even keep a schedule that details when i study and when to relax. Balancing the two is what is important.

As old as the post is, it's here so...
1. Study show that sleeping on what you learn help in memory retention and problem solving. Taking a nap when your stuck or just finished a large or hard amount of work, will better help you memorize and work through the problems.
2. Consumptions of food with Omega 3 Fatty acids should help in memory retention, such as fish (different fish scale quite drastically in the amount, so research) and flax seeds are good sources.
3. Associate what you learn with other senses. Picture the words you read with an image, attach color and sounds to it. In this way, you can retain the memory in more places of your brain, in the audio and visual memory banks.
4. If you are of a musical decent, especially of string instruments. When confronted by a difficult problem, play your instrument. This one, I have a bit of a harder time explaining, but, the process of learning string instruments, helps a part of the brain develop, one near the problem solving section, and by exercising this part, helps those around it work better. I originally learned about this from learning about Einstein who, when confronted with a difficult problem, would play violin.
5. Listening to music can help, I don't know too much about this one though. I would assume calming music, though I don't always use that myself.
6. In regards with distractions, the obvious, "remove/turn off" if you can't control your impulses to play around with them.
That's all I can think of atm the moment, sometimes I forget these things myself (irony), so typing them up in a place I can look back too, is good for me as well.
