In America i guess people call it soda by majority. I call it something to drink.
Whatever its called, I tend to use the brand name like my favorite "Leninade"!!!

Been to a lot of places in my time. Everyone I have ever met calls it soda. Maybe its just the people I hang out with?

To avoid confusion, I call it a carbonated beverage.
But seriously, a soda from a soda machine.

We call them soda here in Iowa.
Pop sounds silly.

Soft drinks usually but if it's coca cola, generally that's coke.

Then again, I am Aussie.

I don't know if this is specifically regional to a particular part of the coast, but, folks in california call it "pop". Same with northerners (PA, NY)
I am from California and currently reside here and we refer to it as soda.

Down in Georgia, people call it Coke. Otherwise Soda. No one says soft-drink or pop. I call it a drink.

For some reason I call them carbonated beverages, I dunno how that got started but nobody else I know says it.

It's called soda! One of my former co-workers was from the east coast always called it pop and we would get into long and hilarious arguments about it. At least I always won the argument about In-N-Out vs White Castle. In-N-Out for the win!

I voted other, I usually just say the name of the drink. IE: I'm getting a Pepsi/Coke/Mt. Dew/Sprite etc.

"Soft drink" at a restaurant. "Pop" anywhere else. Or the beverage name/type (i.e. "root beer" or "sprite").

I'd like to respectfully refute this claim. I've lived all over California all my life (Santa Cruz -> Grass Valley -> Sacramento, etc.) and I've never heard anyone call soda 'pop' unless it was in jest.
Now, Canada on the other hand...
