When did you start driving?
When did you get your freedom and hit the open roads?

Got my learner's permit around 17, but didn't get my license until I was 22. It just didn't make sense to do it earlier since I was at college, where everything was within walking distance or could be reached by bike or bus. Plus, parking on campus was (and still is) pretty ridiculous. Good thing I always had lots of friends with cars I could mooch rides from when I needed to.
The only notable driving story I have was that my car got rear-ended a couple months ago, and the dumb bitch tried to call the cops on ME for "slamming" on my brakes while the roads were slippery. Didn't take a physics degree to figure out she shouldn't have been following so closely, so obviously she got the ticket, and I got her money. Women drivers... amiright?

Sounds like something my sister would do....and has done twice already!

I started when I was 18, wished I had done it sooner had it not been due to the financial and school factor
After I got my license, I tried to make a drift like how it was shown in the movies....epic fail due to 2 reason:
1. A big truck coming at high speed (I was on the highway...figures)
2. My dad seating on the passenger seat pulled the brake too quick, which almost made us sent flying to the opposite lane had I not swerved in the opposite direction, missed the truck by a few inches and had the "is this real moment"

1. When did you start driving?
2. How did you feel when you got your license?
3. Do you have an interesting driving story? If so, explain please.
Feel free to answer any of those questions and if you have any tips for a soon-to-be new driver, go right ahead.
1) I think it was 17. Took driver's ed in High School b/c it was an easy and practical elective.
2) Getting the license greatly increases your freedom of movement.
3) LOL
A collection of stories of near-crashes, repairs, car-towing and stuff, which I don't care to remember, really. But also fun times driving to fun places with good friends. Maybe someday I'll tell a few, but, trust me, you'll make your own in no time.
A tip?
At first it feels very freaky to be out in heavy traffic, but you get used to it in no time.
Also, try to always have enough time to get where you're going - there are enough idiots in a hurry out on the road, I try not to be one of them.

I was lazy and busy, so I didn't start until 18. Love it now, though :D
Ha, they changed the law in NJ now though, so you can't start learning until 18 now (instead of 16).
I actually think that will make kids (and the roads) a LOT safer. High schoolers don't need to be driving, honestly.

I started at 15, but my dad's car broke down during the session. Because of my procrastination, I didn't get a license until I was 20.

I started to learn a couple days after my 17th birthday; can only start when you're 17 where I come from.
I got my license...around 6-8 months after. Felt pleased with myself, and very keen to get on the road.
Any stories? Probably almost losing my licence in the week after I got my licence. Luckily for me, none of the cameras tracked back to me XD Phew! Bloody careful after those incidents, mind.

I'm 19 now and I'm still on my learners. How it works here is there's a minimum six month duration between your learners and your restricted so I'm being forced to wait. Truth is I still don't really want a car, I like the laziness and cheapness of the bus, but every so often people bitch at me cause I can't be assed getting to more obscurely-located gatherings.
You know I've even grown to like that weird musty smell the bus has? I guess they're nicer here cause this place is so sparsely populated that there's only ever like seven people on board.
