With calmness, presence of mind and a little bit of luck, one can have a high chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse like migrating to a freezing place.
Good thing zombies are dumb.
But what if zombies with slightly advance reasoning and logic began appearing?

I'd try to stay away from walmart or other stores like that. Walmart is typically located in places with a good sized population base, and a lot of people, at least in this thread, would try to got their first. I just see that as a death trap, with so many people that would attract a large amount of zombies, from the converted population.
I'd personally stay where I live right now. The place I live in right now is somewhat elevated as both doors you need to climb the deck to get to, so that narrows the angle for defence. Got a well system for water, Gas station right beside me, heavy machinery, live in a rural farm area, and population is low and spread out.
BC, Canada

Theres a gun store right down the street from where I live. Can never go wrong with that.~buzz~ Gun's make noise of all zombie types I've seen, they all use there ears, and they never give up till they kill the human in sight of the sound. You'll end up trapped in the gun store (or anywhere else you go gun blazing), with limited ammo.
OT: The nuclear facility has more negative than positives, depending on how the zombie infection spreads in the beginning determines how difficult it is to contain. Most likely though, someone infected will be let in, the biggest mistake is prioritizing feelings over survival (what makes us human so its fine!). The people running the place will have the biggest say in whatever community assembles there.
In worst case scenario, the people to control/shut down, the facility die and the place goes critical, but stuck inside by invading zombies, there's no where you can run, or if you manage it, not enough time to run.
As for me, constantly moving is the best thing, bunking down will lead to being boxed in, physical weapons are best, but some light projectiles with a couple of rounds would be good. A silent vehicle. I'd visit a lot of stores and fresh water area's unconnected to water systems. I'd probably go to the desert or north to Canada. Most stories don't get to far in time lines, but assuming there bodies are still decomposing, the desert should cause decay rather fast, or ice should freeze there bodies rather well.
Also what kind of zombies are these? fast, stupid? slow, stupid? fast, smart? I'd approach each scenario differently depending.
Fast, I'd probably would bunker in a place with a lot of arms with the "die fighting" mindset.
Slow, Move around.
Fast smart, Assembly a counter zombie militia that actively seeks out and exterminates them, base in a gun store locations. (I'd avoid large groups otherwise, or attempting to travel with an already established group, cannibals, religious nuts, mentally unstable...)

[size=14]I do think it depends what kind of zombies you're talking about but I'd probably end up in my attic as unless you have the key it's impossible to get the ladder down to actually get up there so it's pretty safe.[/h]

My first choice would be as far away from humans as possible.
Bond's house in Skyfall woud be ideal. There's even a trapdoor there

I'd stick to the subway tunnels, with everyone believing that it will obviously be packed with zombies, no one will think to go in there. Thus no one will die or come back in there, thus no zombies. It's brilliant!
But in all seriousness, I'd set up shop on a rooftop of an apartment building. One that's brick and mortar and where there are more adjacent rooftops just a jump away. I'd clamber to the top via rope, barricade entry back into the building, and work slowly and carefully to clear out the zombies within the building so I can scavenge for supplies and whatever weapons can be improvised. At the same time I'd work at building a safe, yet quickly destructible bridge to the next building over, in case the situation ever becomes unfavorable and zombies manage to break through the rooftop entrance. As I make it to the other end, I'll cut the bridge and find another rooftop so as not to attract more attention from any nearby zombies that may have been drawn to the debacle of my escape.
I'll try to stay away from guns that aren't silenced and I'll instead stick to long-ranged melee weapons.

First would be a gun store, there is one 30km down the highway also with sports store including fishing and hunting gear.
Secondly, I would proceed to a hardware warehouse or industrial area for the fencing and also raw materials for construction of barriers for gardens and farming land. Also armored trucks would be a safe mode of transport for find supplies and survivors.
Thirdly, would be finding a way to recycle water and generate electricity.
Lastly, find survivors and repopulate.
So in the end I would be safe and have a sufficient amount of food for myself, while having the capability to expand the safe zone that I would have set up allowing for the start of a zombie free area for survivors.
