The majority of people put on a face for people in real life. Polite, kind, not particularly confrontational. Don't mistake this for the way they think or wish to behave. The reason people can let loose on the internet is because the consequences are severely reduced or downright nonexistent.People that are assholes online are assholes offline as well. Sometimes they're just really good at hiding it.

I don't know, but sometimes I'm more comfortable talking to people online about things I wouldn't tell people I know irl, because they don't know me. :D Gossip travels as fast as light, but if you're on the internet, you could create a manipulative character who does not exists in real life. :)
