Haha.
Yes. Too thorough, even- overcomplicating one aspect of the question without regards to the core question itself.

prefer bishounen to men that look, well, manly?
men all look slender and dazzling.
It's incredibly difficult to find a good manga with a guy that looks like a guy.
There must be a reason why girls like pretty guys rather than handsome guys. :(
I'm determined to find out why!
It's about looks. Only looks. Nothing else.
You have the personality aspect of it down pat.
But why do the fangirls prefer that look? The deep eyes? The fabulous hair? The tall, slender build? Those delicate lips? The pointed chin? Smooth, hairless skin?
That's what she would like to know.
The ideal description does not just include the emotions and personality, why would it include just that?! The appearance of a bishounen was originally designed to look like a character that transcended both genders so while the character did have the appearance of femininity, the character still had the traits of a main character but also appeals differently than in the more traditional genres
What you seem to be asking is a bit more different than the initial question.

Never seen nor heard evidence of that, so I'll just take your word for it.

Have you looked for evidence of such?

If you look at your description of bishounen you might notice that many if not all do belong to that of a female

Well, that is what most people view bishounens as- girly men. Effeminate men. Almost metrosexual, in a way.
So, yeah- I wouldn't really say it transcends gender, so much as it is simply one gender emulating and adopting characteristics traditionally associated with the other.
So why would the girls find that attractive?
Actually- as Shaggy already mentioned, this has already been discussed here quite thoroughly- in which I already shared my thoughts in there somewhere.

My only point here was to provide my opinion on it, also I was referring to the appearance of a bishounen when I mentioned transcending gender as well as I was referring to its origins , and I have at least once provided my opinion on why I believe girls that prefer that sort of thing attracted to that genre. Have you honestly even tried looking up on the origins of the term bishounen? Anyway it is pushing 12:30 a.m. and I have to be concerned with getting-up-with-the-sun so if you would like we could carry on with this discussion at another time just pm me.

[font=comic sans ms]I think it's not exactly what the fans want exactly, it's the pressures and rules the editorial staff request their authors to do. If they're boss tells them they're required to have bishonen in their stories or else they'll face consequences they'll more than likely comply to the their standards in the genre in competition of other series. Or they're work won't appeal or sell. Making manga is a business after all.

I think it may possibly be because, lots of anime characters are drawn in such a way, that may be seen as girly on a guy here in North America, but normal in Asia

My guess would be that those type of men are more "in-tuned" with their feminine side, and for some reason that gets women crazy about them. And as such, they know how to please women more, and worry about themselves less. I can't stand pretty boys either, especially Justin Beiber. I was gonna say something similar, so I'll just say QFT.

It's happening. I was flicking through the music channels which i rarely do, and every guy with a guitar looked like a sissy boy. And most the popular kids who aren't aggressive douche bags without any qualifications, dress pretty girly. I think mucho men are a thing of the past in general :(
Just my opinion on things.

Ill just base my answer on your thread title. most probably because its some weird fetish, or its just in them that makes them attached to it.
