Workout routines

It's been a while since I posted here, most of my posts here where to exchange ideas about specific inquiries. I must say I'm very happy with the people who post in SD.
I do not know if my inquiry should go here, or in the request section, if I posted in the wrong forum I apologize.
I come here with a very personal problem, it has been nearly a year since I exercised myself correctly, and by correctly I mean go to the gym and do a routine which was assigned to me by an instructor.
In my prime I would work one day my arms (biceps, triceps, wrists and so on), then another my chest, finally my legs, and would do approximately 300-400 abs (those in a daily basis), however now I tried to use my old karate routine, which was stretching for about ten minutes, in addition to some jogging, then do 60-70 push ups, and throw continuous punches for 60 seconds, rest 15 seconds and so on, I would repeat that for four times.
Well I've done it, and halfway through I became exhausted, damn I'm shaking while I'm writing this, if anyone here has some exercising experience and would like to share a few tips, please bear in mind that right now my condition is that of a potato couch, my nutrition is even worse (pretty bad habits), and my morale is shattered.
Thank you.

Might want to go here next time.

As for your problem, try doing a bit less with more breaks in between since you're starting after a long hiatus.

I've been here a year and a half, and I wasn't even aware that a sportts and fitness section existed :S
@cruz737 By the way, thanks for the advice, though I still need to know which exercises I can or can't do.

What do you want? Build muscle, get stronger, or get more stamina? You train completely differently for each.

Wow a little bit late to respond but...Find out your max for things like bench and lift, your weight, height, etc. etc.4chan's fit has a really neat program thing they have going on.
Even more late to thank you :P
Yeah since I underwent surgery I can't do anything until August, I was thinking swimming again, since when I used to do weight lifting I hurt my back, and still haven't seen a doctor about it.
BTW really neat page +rep, thanks again!

Check out the book called Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. It's perfect people starting to lift weights. In order to build noticeable muscle, you need to lift weights in order to put enough tension on your muscles.

I have recently come to the realization that Ive been trying EXTREMELY hard to increase my stamina, I mean running to the point that I can hardly move legs the next day, but as it turns out my stamina is actually pretty good, its just I usually just stretch my legs a bit before a run, but I never really warmed up before a run. I realized that after taking a Pilates class once first thing in the morning. After that I thought I wouldnt be able to run but in fact I was able to run three times as long as I usually could. Now Im trying to learn new ways to warm up before a run or any kind of exercise really. Dunno if its the same for everyone but yeah.
About a year and a half ago I was about 25 pounds heavier. I lost 15 pounds in one month (I shit you not) because I cut out all the bad foods and pretty much had the best diet ever, mainly fruit, and some meat I cooked myself, went to the gym EVERY SINGLE DAY, focusing on a different type of workout every day IE: one day some cardio and working out the upper body, while the other mostly cardio and no upper body workouts.
Sure the first couple of days were hell but hey, cant argue with results.

I don't have much of a full out routine, just walk or run everyday, and lift my weights that have gotten to light for me. A workout routine combined with a healthy diet will get you your best results, and it's a routine to live by!

Well I just stretch and do 45 minutes of cardio take 2 creatine pills with either gatorade or juice. Then i stretch again and lift for 2hrs and stretch again and take 2 creatine pills with either gatorade or juice. You can hurt your self if you use too much weight or if you have a bad form depending on what workout you are doing.

I run 1.3 miles in the morning, take a short break, then I alternate each day doing either a lower body workout (legs and abs) or an upper body workout (arms, shoulders, and back). I have a multi-function weight bench with low, medium, and high cables, along with a chest press and leg extension station.
I do 12-15 reps of the highest weight I can do, and I increase the weight as it gets easier. it usually takes me about 2 hours to do the upper body workout, and 1 hour to do the lower body workout.
I usually eat fruit for breakfast, and I eat eggs immediately after I work out. other than that, I eat stuff like pasta, pizza, burgers, chicken, and steamed rice with teriyaki chicken (my favorite :D).
I'm training because: 1)Girls 2)I want to be better at basketball 3)I want to be stronger than my brother

Well. On some days I run 3 miles, swim about half an hour, then do some upper body weight lifting. Other days I run 6 miles and do basic weights, nothing too hard because of the run.

I lift weights.
On most days I'll take 35 pound weights and do 50 bicep curls in each arm.
Sometimes I do sit ups.
That and yardwork is really my only exercise.

I play basketball, and lift weights. I worked out a ton this summer, but I've kinda gotten lazy now that schools back.
My routine is 12-15 reps of workout A, 30 sec rest, 12-15 reps of workout B, 30 sec rest, repeat workouts A and B, then move on to the next 2 workouts. once I'm done I eat eggs 'till I feel sick, which is usually after 8.
