Would you evacuate during a flood?
In times of trouble, would you evacuate your home state/region/shire?

I'm serious.
Would anyone aside from myself refuse to leave their state/region/shire during a flood?
Right now, my street is flooded, it has been flooded for about a day or so.
I'm not going to be evacuating. Nope.
I love my state, it seems to be the last haven for logic in the U.S. (in my opinion)
I'd rather stay here, thanks. Life or death.

Did you ever lived somewhere else than in the state you live in right now ?
More on topic , what does it change if you stay except having a crappy lifestyle for a while or even risking your life ? I seriously see no reason to stay and many to leave , the choice for me is obvious , but i'm curious , why don't you give more details ?

Depends. If the threat is something to take seriously, then I'd leave. IF it reaches my house (since I'm at a high elevation) and I have little to no food.
I'm assuming you're talking about the hurricane that's at the northeastern part of the U.S.?

My mum is from Rhode Island.
My father is from Massachusetts.
I was born in Virginia because of a business trip my father was on, but I only lived there for a year and a half.
My family then moved to Rhode Island, the state that I continue to reside in to this day.
As to why I won't leave: I dislike the "merry, Mary, marry" sound merger, which every other U.S. dialect has. Don't question my logic in that case; because, indeed, dialect is more important than safety in this case.

That is what I am referring to, yes.

That's surprising. I knew it was affecting Martha's Vineyard (since it's a small island and all, this wasn't unexpected) but I didn't think it was actually serious anywhere else. It's little more than a moderate rainstorm and some wind where I live.
Well, good luck to ye. Hopefully it'll sort out for you.

I'm from Texas. This state is big enough for me to go far from a disaster and still be okay in my state, but if it was a death or severe injury threat that I couldnt get away from, I would leave.
Good luck man, hoard and stay safe.

Thanks for the support, friend.
Because you brought up Texas, I will say that the Oklahoman area (because it preserves the hw- sounds) would likely be where I'd be if I couldn't live in New England.

Unless all the illegal aliens start to get forcefully deported and raise hell or there is a huge earthquake, no, I have no need to leave.

Oh arrogance why do you plague the human race?
If the government/state you live in advises you to leave because they take the storm seriously or because of the chances of flooding/damage in your area then I suggest you to leave. But since you feel every other states are inferior in logic then stay there and let mother nature do its job to decrease the human population, which has increased in concentrated areas. So do us all a favor and stay in the "haven for logic".

first off I am not trying to offend you, but if you will be on the statements in the next part of my post, then I apologize in advance.
I am trying to look into the workings of your mind
you seem to have a deep-seated separation and stranger(?) anxiety, or a bit of obsessive compulsive behaviour. seeing that you disdain products from other places.
you were't born in your state so I kinda wonder how much you have settled your roots, how many years are you in your current state by now? It's easier for people to digest if you were actually born in that place, did you perhaps have a bad experience (with the the people, products etc)?
now back to your question. I would evacuate, I have my family to think about. Their safety and wellbeing is my utmost priority.

I wasn't actually using "logic" to mean "logic" in that instance, I was using it as a euphemism for linguistically pure.
And think for a moment; why would I want to torture myself by having to listen to people pronounce "merry, Mary and marry" the same way. It's too distracting. If someone has that merger, I just cannot take them seriously.

The only reason I wasn't born in the state is because of a business meeting. I was always supposed to have lived here, and I have (since I was 1 and 1/2 years old, for god's sake!)
You wouldn't understand what I mean by the specific negative dialectual differences I refer to, because (if you are Commonwealth/Australia/New Zealand as you appear) you don't have the mergers either.
But considering the only dialects besides mine have the mergers in the U.S., and I can't stand the mergers, I won't move.

If you are talking about just flooding, No, I'd ride it out. My streets are actually flooded right now.
If it was a hurricane, wildfire or terrorist threat, I'd evacuate.
I have no problems being away from my house for 4-5 days, but the damage to my things would get me.

I salute you, then.
I could never bring myself to do that.

If you are able to or feel that you are at risk and there will be damage then leave.

I probably would, but I sure as hell would be insured. Part of me would want to stay to shoot the looters though.

If it's already flooding it's to late, if you have ample warning and can afford to leave than yes. I was in Hurricane Katrina, and we didn't leave did our place get damaged? Yes. But hell that would have happened anyways.

Mash, I'm going to put this up here because you asked but no I don't believe this matter is serious enough for SD; there isn't really a discussion to be had here.
"yes, I would evac."
"no, I'm not a bitch"
