Would You Keep Your Maiden Name?
Would You Keep Your Maiden Name?

Guy here. Due to my grandmothers divorce and remarrying; I don't have any blood relation to my last name. So I wouldn't mind giving it up should i ever find someone.

[font=comic sans ms]I want to keep mine. I think it's respectful to my father who wasn't in my life for very long also it's short and simple.

Well, my last name is from my fathers side, but I dont like it, its quite rare and I always have to say it several times to people before they get it right D: So I want my mothers last name, but changing my last name costs quite alot.
And nope, I dont want my bf's last name either, even tho I'm pretty sure my bf would be very happy if I did, because his last name is really rare and unless people with the same last name start having sex like crazy, its soon gone.

As much as I would love to, I am a professional and to drop my name is a trade no-no. Plus I have two children by prior relationships. I would never have a different last name than them. It does present a problem when my man and I talk about having children together. We just have to negotiate I guess. Our hyphenated name would be long by american standards but it is still shorter than most Greeks. Lol. I voted yes, but maybe I should have said both.

I kept my last name, I made my diploma with that name so it stays that way...I don't mind if the children (if we ever have any) get his last name.

I wouldn't mind either way, either she wants to keep her last name or she wants me to have hers, doesn't really matter to me.

I'll most likely take my husband's name, if I were to marry.I technically have my brother's dad's last name. Not my dad's last name, nor my mother's.
And, while it does have a nice ring to it, there's no background to it.
So, it would be nice to inherit a new one with more meaning.
this, except the brother's dad's last name thingy.

On my credit cards, you bet. Bank account too. And legally.
But I'd be fine with people to use either name with me in casual terms or in public. I just feel my name is important to me, and shows I haven't been completely transformed into someone else just via marriage into their line.
Besides, my dad was the only boy in his family, and I'm one of two girls. So I figure it would be nice to keep the name going somehow, no? His sisters took on other names.

While it is customary for the girl to take on the husband's last name, my mom sure didn't. She still goes by her maiden name and it makes things a whole lot more confusing when dealing with paperwork.
While it might be more professional for a woman to keep her maiden name, I'd probably just just it. Simpler and shows that I love the guy...yeah fairytale princess reasoning there Oh well.

Wouldn't matter to me. My last name is Johnson, so I could fully understand if my fiancee would want to keep her name, particularly if it was more original and had special meaning(s) to her.
I'm cool with changing my last name so if she wants to keep hers cool, if she doesn't then I'm cool with sticking with me. It is something I would discuss with her and come to a conclusion.

I love my last name, it's really rare, but I will still take my husband's last name only when I marry.
I'm sure it sounds outdated and silly, but when someone asks me to marry them and take their last name as my own, I feel honored.

I have my father's last name. Do not like, for many personal reasons. So I would prefer to have my husbands name. :) I know he'll have an awesome last name anyway.
