Your favorite bands?
0
A thread like this had probably existed, perhaps even had several incarnations, in FAKKU's past, but that's all necrotic, by now. So, here we go:
Name a handful of your favorite bands (let's say, no more than a dozen) and a short reason for each of them.
I'd start with myself, but I gotta hurry to class, now. See you in the afternoon.

So, finally I get around to my contribution. (Not that I expect anybody to care.)
Curiously, so far, nobody has supplied any reasons. Not like it's necessary and, of course, oftentimes one can't pin it down. Still, strange.
In as few words as possible, and in mostly random order:
Napalm Death: If I had to choose only one band whose musical style I like the most. Also, Mark Greenway is, by my preference, hands down the best vocalist I have ever heard.
Depeche Mode: If I had to choose only one band whose songs speak to me the most.
Tom Waits: When I need something more bluesy.
Radiohead: Kinda a mix of Tom Waits and Depeche Mode.
U2: Though they are probably the biggest thing around, their songs aren't braindead, mainstream bubblegum, at all. Also, the Edge is just one of the all-time greatest guitarists.
Queen: The biggest band of the 80s, whose reign was cut tragically short; all four members were talented songwriters, and their catalogue exhibits unbelievable variety.
Red Hot Chili Peppers: A lot of odd lyrics, but some extremely catchy alternative rock.
MF Grimm: An abstract kind of rapper who's lived through some harsh reality.
Immortal Technique: Another conscious rapper, with more heavily political lyrics.
Manowar: When I feel like being picked up by some power metal.
