Your Opinion on GameFAQs..?

I didn't know to either put this in Video Games or not so i put it in here just to be safe.

I used to visit GameFAQ's heavily (before i got banned ¬_¬) and i can tell you that i personally think its horrendous. The Moderating is ridclously strict. Your topic will get closed or 'being off-topic of the game' just because someone reports it or they are moderating a board of a game they no nothing about. And The Community is terrible (ESPECIALLY the Fighting game community.) The moment you say something remotely negative about a game, they insult you (who ironically don't get moderated) and label you as a Troll. I told them that the modding was too corrupt and too strict, they then terminate my account. it's a total joke. has anyone had any similar expereinces with GameFAQs? (Please note, I'm talking about the community, not the information side)

I sometimes use it for information, I'd never bother with the community.

There's been a rise in trolls lately, spread all over, some go to a ton of boards just to troll, but over-glorify games they like. What was your username OP?

I only go there if I wanna look at some "gamefaqs" for the game I'm playing. That is all.

^This. Much like Anime News Network (ANN), the only thing I've ever used is their encyclopedia section.

Yeah, I see no point in the use of their forums. I use it for its intended purpose (like other game tip sites): Game. FAQs.

I just google info about the game I'm playing and open a bunch of tabs. So yeah sometimes I guess I use them for finding stuff.

I never really got into the community. I only to GameFAQ for walkthroughs.

But seriously, I've been with GF since '06. I go for the guides, I stay for the community. I've never had experiences similar to yours, altho I've been modded a plethora of times so I have an understanding of the Do's and Don'ts without ever having to have read the ToS. I don't bear grudges against my mods either. Actually, if you ask me to state my moddable offenses, I wouldn't be able to recall since they are so far and in between.

The communities when compared to other dedicated fan forum counterparts are fairly lax and chaotic. It entices different kind of talk and different kind of user. Were you insulted? Did you report it? Mods occur when users flag posts. Was your topic on-topic? You don't have to just take it. You can make an appeal if you feel you were wronged in some way or simply wish to clear things up. The Moderation system isn't completely just and infallible, but neither is anywhere else. Multiple offenses will obviously get you banned.

As for my opinion, I love the damn place. Its simple and amusing. It's like anything else I do: I have my friends and I have my enemies.
