I don't particularly care either way, i know a few and they are no different from normal people and most wouldn't do anything anyway. I just think everyone is a little to quick to the paranoia wagon these days. There are much **worse** things out there to be honest.

In my mind, if the kid wants it, it should logically be okay. I see however that this opens up the chance that the adult could bully the child into saying that, so it defeats itself. Once again,Uzachiha fails.

Pedophilia is creepy, but pedophilia does not automatically equal a predator or rapist. Still, I would not want my child to be around a pedophile WHATSOEVER <_<
In our society, I guess I should say pedophiles (Who aren't predators/rapists/etc...) are people who need therapy and help rather than needing to be persecuted. It's a serious subject, and we should help them rather than throwing them in jail if they haven't done anything wrong yet.
That said, anyone who does actually do something to a child deserves the harshest punishments.
And I'm saying this as a victim myself of a pedophilia. No joke.
I hope we can differentiate lolicon and pedophilia in this thread though.

Two men are walking down the street. Both see a hot woman walking by. They both think, "Oh. She's really hot." Man number 1 continues to walk by, but man number 2 rapes her.
Is the problem that they think she's hot? No. It's the actions taken.
Predators are absolutely disgusting, and absolute scum. But there's nothing actually *wrong* with a pedophile on a legal or moral level, rather, what can be wrong is the actions they take -- just like all other people.

Not normal at all, seriously. I found paedophile disgusting to be frank. But just like what you all say, it's just a type of behaviour, does not mean all pedos are rapist.

This issue is a complicated one. Being a pedophile, in and of itself, is not bad. Someone can't help what or who they are attracted to, and it is unfair to condemn someone who is sexually attracted to children simply because they are attracted to them. Obviously, acting on those desires is illegal and (in my opinion) ethically wrong. People who cannot control themselves are the problem.

Of course, the MAKING of child pornography is completely illegal, so in a perfect society, there would be none of it. However, that is not the case. That said, I do agree with the illegality of the material. Not because it SHOULD be illegal, but rather because if it weren't, much more child pornography would probably be made and that, of course, would mean much more child molestation.
On a related note, lolicon and shotacon hentai should never, ever become illegal. Why? Because that would make it a thought crime, and there is nothing I despise more than a government who tries to control their citizens that completely.

To each their own and all that stuff. Obviously though, most countries have laws against having sexual relationships with children because little kids are too young to decide for themselves. Not saying kids want to get jiggy wtih anyone more than three or potentially four times their age, or anyone for that matter. When I here pedophile, the kind of image of the person they go for in my head is a child who hasn't even gone through puberty. People with that kind of taste really got the short end of the stick.

The other effects of pedophiling is that the child grows into a woman, and remembers that she had been raped by some adult (who is now an old man). That's what i think troubles me the most. It effects the child's future.

i think the problem is society is developing into per say a certain image. When i go to the mall these days, it seems like more and more girls and especially younger ones are being molded into dressing scantily. Girls around 7-8 that dress this way is not uncommon (eg. really short shorts that reveal a lot of leg); i begin to question the parents sometimes, letting their children dress like that at such a young age.It has gotten to the point where i find it difficult to differentiate a 14 year old from a 18 year old as both strive to become this sort of perfect "mold" of what's standard to be attractive.
As for the pedophilia thing, im entirely against underage sex of any kind. From the ages of 12-18 there is a massive difference. This is the maturity stage of the human life cycle, and a person can change significantly in their personality, traits, emotions and beliefs in just the span of a year let alone five. Sex is a massive deal, and at the early stages of the brain maturing an experience like sex can have massive negative detrimental effects later down in the road. The issue is more than just about morals and ethics.
