about yuri....

My question about lesbian/gay sex is why is it more acceptable or less controversial to draw and animate yuri than yaoi? I don't really care why yuri turns me on, since it's the same deal with yaoi turning on girls, but there's a whole culture dedicated to yuri/shoujo-ai, and from what I've seen, yuri/shoujo-ai is much more proliferate than yaoi. Is it because we're a male dominated society or something else?

It's silly to ask why something appeals to you. Why does loi appeal to some people, or futa to others? Different things just trigger different reactions from different people. I personaly love yuri, because I just find it more romantic.
As for the notion that yuri is eye candy for men, almost 70% of the members on MALs yuri club are female.

It is as what you said. Whatever floats a person's boat is fine.
For me, I find yuri to be great in anime, light and visual novels and manga. They're smart, appealing, emotional and well-written, since majority of yuri mangaka and writers tend to be great storytellers and artists as well. Don't get me wrong - I also enjoy reading Junjou Romantica, and its author is a good mangaka too. I just simply love well-presented love relationships, whatever gender pairing it may be. But I have more tendencies to lean on yuri.
IRL... I personally don't dig it for them, but I always retain a high degree of respect for lesbians. It's their decision to make anyway.

It's interesting that after reading this thread I noticed that I like yuri yet I don't like lesbian porn. I guess Yuri brings with it a lot more emotional impact. If you can enjoy a great story, great artwork, and some hentai (in some instances) then everything is satisfied.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? Don't you know that homosexuality makes God cry?God cry? LOL.
Anyway, you have to keep the mind of real life lesbians in mind when you ask why people like yuri. Remeber, there are some girls that like girls just as much as guys. Personally I like yuri because I wish it was more rampant. If you happen to hook up with a girl that likes yuri, that means there is always a chance to get what most guys dream of : a three -way. The same can be said in reverse for a lot of girls.

Reason why female like yuri might vary from each female fans. Usually like: the stories, emotions, etc like that.
I think it's same for yaoi too. yaoi have lot of fans but maybe not really stand out like yuri.
I myself didn't find Yuri/lesbian sex interests me much, but the romance stories; the drama, that's the factor that interests me.

It could be because there is a much larger audience for girl x girl than for guy x guy.

@eternalslumber1234: I was hoping for a different answer... but it does seem to stem from that fact.
It's interesting, yuri, because both girls and guys like it. On the other hand with yaoi, the girls like and the guys go, "Yuck!" I suppose I'm questioning why people in general believe that committing lesbian acts is generally more acceptable than committing gay acts. I suppose it has to do with our views on sexism and that probably most people think that women are sexier than men. (And of course, why women are considered sexier originates from our male-dominated society and views associated with it.)

You guys are over thinking this. It is a personal taste like any fetish. It has nothing to do with yuri-watchers being insecure about their dicks or appreciating love between women or any of that stuff. It arouses me, so I fap to it. :/ Pretty simple imo.

I'm pretty sure there are some girls turned off by yuri or yaoi as well as guys who don't like yuri either. Its all in the preferences i suppose. As for me, i don't like yaoi but i know alot of other people though so ya

Simply put, when I see said(attractive) girls having any type of sexual interaction, all that is running through my mind is "Please don't stop."Why, some people ask? Where is the appeal of no penetration, and only rubbing?
Well, most males worship the female body... assuming it's one worth the attention of course... Thus, having TWO is better. And if those two are able to entertain themselves, well even better still.
Often there is more emotion in Yuri, and the majority is softer overall.
So I don't know, a nice break from the almost violent normality of male-on-female action...
Could just be my opinion, though.
This guy put it perfectly.

I would like to state, though I am sure it has already been, there is no such thing as hot lesbians in reality.
