What is the opinion of the users of Fakku on this practice ,and the recent social pressures applied by the United States ,and allies to have it outlawed over seas ? Do you feel it is an absolute evil ? I'm especially curious to hear what Non-American users think on all this , as while it does occur in the US it is not as major an issue as it is considered to be in other parts of the world.

It's not the WORST thing that can happen to kids. But in the pantheon of worst things that can happen to kids ever, this is right there within the top 10, somewhere below "dying a painful horrible death after being tortured for 48hrs straight."

I would love to hear the argument for it. Please enlighten me, Fakku.

Not the worst, but that is because we are an imaginative lot. Hey-o Guro.

perhaps it is , but honestly when your choices include working to death on a small farm , dying from malnutrition , or being left to die by your parents just to name a few working several years as a sex-worker who will be fed ,and relatively well taken care of ,and get (at least in their minds) a chance to help their family ,can you really say its among the worst ? I don't like or accept child prostitution , it quite frankly disgusts me , but who the fuck am I (who has the ability to live comfortably ,and has government programs that will aid me if I ever reach this level of desperation ), to judge them ? Its a shitty world we live in ,and sometimes the best we can hope for is a shitty situation

Essentially what you're saying is because it's not the worst thing that could happen to a child, it's a-ok for it to go on and well, who are you to hope for social change?
You have every right to judge their situation. Not them, no, their situation, yes. I would love to believe that everyone enters the sex trade willingly and through sound judgement but that's just not the case, sorry. Also economic duress does not = willingly and with sound judgement to me. I also hold the believe that a pre-pubescent child will never be able to make that decision properly.
Look, at the end of the day I'm a realist. I know it's not all foreigners preying on 8 year olds chained to beds, and I accept prostitution as a viable means of commerce WHEN DONE RIGHT. But therein lies the problem, how do you protect and regulate the child and their rights? Certainly not by saying hey, your life sucks. OH WELL! MORE POWER TO YA!

Sorry if I come off rude or patronizing. >_> just... you know, kind of heated.

If by child you really mean child, I'm def against it.
If you mean "anyone under 18"... I mean, seriously, there's not much of a difference between being 17 or 18 to me. As long as it's the person's will and it's not forced on them.

Yeah, Child prostitution......thats pretty fucked up. Thats in the top 5 of some of the worst things that happen in our world in my book. Dying from starvation, being abandoned, or working in a sweat shop all seem like a better fate for a child than that. Child prostitution is just plain wrong.

hey now...never said I thought it was a ok ..in fact I clearly said it disgusts me , and I was only trying to point out the fact that their are two sides to the matter ,we consider it wrong because morally to US it is horrible ,and unimaginable , but not so much in the countries where it may occur..and who am I to impose what I think is right on another group of people ? The Catholic Church ? no wait they touch little boys...anyway , sure the child may not be able to make sound judgement , but they same can be said of an adult in a similar situation ,who is half starving ,and fearing for the lives of their loved ones...and your right how do you regulate child rights..but you can apply that logic on any other job they'd be forced to engage in realisticly in the environment they live in (hard labor , drug traffic, stealing , etc) I don't approve of it , and Im not saying we should ignore it ,but at the same time I realize imposing our morals ,and laws on the situation will do little to help it,and that the true evil lies in the corrupt governments that do nothing to really solve the problem ,and just push blame on the issue...their really is no RIGHT way to do things when it involves children in these situations, but when every penny earned ,and lost can make the difference between a meal , a roof over head , or even clean water , it becomes difficult to not include the children into the equation....well whatever just saying what I had in my head , doesn't make it true ,and no worries you didn't come off as rude , you just stated your opinion strongly no harm in that , besides this is an open discussion , not a rant I pulled out of my ass...you can say whatever you feel like long as its on topic lol

Having stayed in two of the countries where it occurs and also having family in said countries (two big ones, Thailand and Philippines Hello booming sex industries) I think it's pretty safe to say that the general populace also thinks it is not ok. This happens in the seedy underbellies for a reason.
And you're right, NO ONE - man/woman/child/adult/farm animal should have to unwillingly resort to prostitution. OR terrible labor laws, drug trafficking, etc.
I'm not saying every government should drop what their doing and copy Western Laws and moral codes, fuck no that's a BAD idea (just like I honestly don't think Thailand could handle an absolute democracy right now, even if I personally love living in a democratic nation) But one could put their support behind organizations that ARE doing what they can to provide positive social change on ALL fronts of living. To me Education is the key to everything. So I put my weight behind organizations that work to provide books/training/etc. to those "in need". Even if that support is just moral support (hey, I'm broke! I ain't no bleeding heart east coast liberal! ... contrary to what it TOTALLY looks like right now >_> .... <_<.....>_<;)

i admit it, im a lolicon(pedo)
but im personally against child prostitution
1.it goes against the wishes of the child
2.a crying child's face is more hurting than any other thing in the world(except maybe my super-ugly teacher's face)
3.the child will grow up twisted
child prostitution = NO (hate it. horrible)

Usually child prostitution only happens in like third world countries or something. That, or they are a victim of circumstances. But I gotta say their clients are usually from the western world coming over as sex tourists.
I for one do not approve of child prostitution but what can you do about it? Really, it'll happen wherever poverty rears its ugly head.

you sound like a cultural relativist. if you were to go by that logic, well then who are we to say that pedophilia should be outlawed. or maybe incest between a mother and son. or maybe a culture believes that killing twins after they are born protects their their village. maybe burning a woman alive may help the harvest.
your logic leads to absurd conclusions and also i think think you get the difference between the morality of a situation and the reasons a society chooses to regulate a certain area mixed up. wearing seat belts for example is not a moral issue, but the interest that a society has in preventing millions of deaths a year governs. you can say the same thing about child prostitution. even if you take the morality out of it, society has an interest in guarding children against abuse or mistreatment, and you are fooling yourself if you think that child prostitution does not lead to abuse or mistreatment. a child, in i think most countries, does not have many legal rights and a child would basically at the mercy of whatever adult is in charge. its not like they know when they are being mistreated either, or can fight back, since they are still weak physically. the room for coercion in child prostitution is just too damn big.
Also, have you ever met anyone who has actually been sexually abused as a child? who experienced sex, whether it was consesual or not consensual at the time? that shit stays with you, even the "consensual cases" and in everyone that i've met, which sadly are several people I've been close to, it fucks them up, some more than others.

But the government part doesn't make sense since the government is the body that can at least try to protect children or adults from exploitation through laws. so i don't get your argument at all.

I also do not approve of child prostitution. I think some children would rather live on streets than be forced to have sex more than 30 times a day, even if they get paid. Ever heard the term child pimp?

"Really, it'll happen wherever poverty rears its ugly head."
Happens in a lot of places. I just know Thailand is a hot spot. Japan has it too since some people don't have enough money and willingly go out to earn money to support their lifestyle/family.
