Cloning Good or Bad?
CLONING GOOD OR BAD?

this topic and the stem cell research one essentially go hand in hand. the whole playing god aspect is overplayed, (its in my opinion that) you cant become your own creation. although i dont exactly see a positive in cloning, artifical reproduction could be beneficial in the future. ynever know what might happen, cherish your penises now! lol

In all seriousness, I believe cloning can be good for society. If you can perfectly clone animals and plants, you can increase food supplies for people that are in need. Not really. The animals and plants still grow at the same rate. Cloning doesn't make something aged like in the movies and as far as I know they can't really accelerate the speed of growth. To make plants grow in places they wouldn't is more of a genetics issue than a cloning issue.
Yeah, I can't I completely ignored that "small" detail for some reason. I didn't realize it until I read my post again.
Man, I really need to get some sleep.

I choose to remain neutral about this. :/
I can see the benefits with growing organs and such...but still. Ehh...I just don't like the idea of a Mad Scientist getting his hands on this technology and doing something insane/evil/horrible or whatever with it.
It bothers me a lot that scientists may want to clone full human beings.
Although I suppose if you look at it, naturally born twins are like natural clones.
I don't know though...Just...weird...

your right but weird can be very good take fakku for example to some society they would look at this like its from another planet but us we see it as a heart warming community with a common interest.

If they cloned me, there would no virgins left in the world. Haha, I'm just kidding.
Anyways, I could care less if people got cloned actually. It's just the way I am.

lol I think they would look at us and go, PERVERTS!
Not really weird. xD
How can you compare FAKKU to cloning anyhow? rofl

Fuck nature.
Ok I feel better now that I've asserted my stance on hippies.
To be honest I think that there should only be full clones when you need body doubles for important people, like for example, a clone of Obama when he went over to Iraq would have been handy. I would think that if you can make throw away clones that would be where it's at.

on humans,bad
imagine a title of a newspaper: "revolts of the clones"....
and too much people is a huge problem in asia,so why add the trouble?
on animals,good
imagine a title of a newspaper: "meat prices went downhill because the abundance of clone livestock"....
need i say more?

I would think that if you can make throw away clones that would be where it's at.no offense kais, but i think thats a horrible idea. its a good concept in theory, but subjecting someone to the life of a mere distraction, a death with no consequence, is rather demeaning. it would be an inhumane existence, and sooner or later the line between clone and 'regular' would be blury when there shouldnt be one to begin with.

it would be bad if you could go to walmart and buy a clone or in a 12 pack that way save money in long run.
special on isle 5 roll back on clones. LOL.

The example that best suits this are the quick clones used in the Halo books, designed to replace someone for a given amount of time, and then, because of flaws in the process that they haven't fixed yet, the clone dies of "natural causes" this type of clone would be handy in international relations since it would be, in effect, as if the president were there in person, but it's not him and only a clone. I also like the humans in Halo being able to simply clone up new organs when you needed them, all they really needed was the DNA and the proper facilities. When dealing with clones you treat them as the person that they are a clone of, they were made for a reason and now they must full fill that reason for existing even if they are not going to live that long, it isn't inhumane when you are treating them with respect, but in effect they are still throw away clones.

I dunno, I don't like the idea of another me running around. Maybe it's just an inferiority complex. So no.

That doesn't even make any sense because cloned animals have to go through the whole gestation and birthing process just like other animals.
The only difference is you don't knock the animal up doing it the natural way, you just take it's DNA and put it into one of it's eggs and there you go. You still have to wait for it.
I don't see what the point is.

hmmmmm came to think of it....
it really doesn't make any sense.yeah.
i forgot that clones still need the whole process.....
damn.and i call myself a pharmacy student.

I am plain against it to be honest. The problem is that in most cases where there is a chance, there is someone who is going to take it. As an example:
Mr "A" has a whole bunch of cash, decides to make a clone and live his life to the fullest. In the end, his liver is destroyed, he takes the one from the clone and "throws it at away", as it "served the purpose" in his views.
Also clones would make identification of criminals / victims way harder. As in most social states the law works by "Unguilty until proven otherwise", you would likely end up in a pinch where (Excuse me please) idiots like our own minister for security would come up with crap to just arrest both, so the chances that it happens again are 0%.
However, I don't mind the cloning of plants. As far as plants as in food supplying plants are concerned, it could save a whole lot of problems with starvation in the world. That falls more into the category of gene manipulation though so meh. Cloning and Gene manipulation somehow are tied together, yet unfamiliar.
As an example: You find a fruit that is resistant against a particular insect / infection or similar. Incase you decide to so to speak "clone" that certain kind of plant, you'll be able to use it in area's were normally the common plant would rot.
So to summon it up:
Sentient beings (Animals, humans etc): no
Non setient objects (plants, vegetables, fruits etc): yes
