Cloning Good or Bad?
CLONING GOOD OR BAD?

We can already manipulate matter for the most part, the next level is full on transmutation, by adding or subtracting from protons, neutrons, and electrons, to create other elements out of the materials on hand. We can actually do this to a very limited degree already, but I'm talking about turning 50lbs of nitrogen into 50lbs of uranium.

Bad.
Imagine if you were cloned just for the sole purpose of having your organs removed for transplant, then left for dead.
Also, people might be cloned just for sex.
Also, the clones will probably gain awareness of their purpose of living, and probably take over the world.
Okay, maybe i am exaggerating, but the clones MAY escape and take over the identities of real people, and commit some act of terror.
So, bad.

if anyones ever seen the island with ewan mcgregor, you will see why i think cloning is a good/bad thing.

Cloning would be awesome and all, but with too many clones, we could create masive mayhem with each other clones and there may not be enough room in the entire world for 10 or more clones from each person.
But, hey. If we could actually clone, I would clone my girlfriend and have a friggin' giant orgy.

Cloning could be looked in two different directions. I'm pro cloning so I will lay out some pros.
- Cloning could help find cures to certain diseases like lung cancer. The damaged cells could be replaced with healthier cloned cells.
- We could regrow lost limbs with regeneration medicine using our cells as a medium.
- Replace damaged internal organs with our cloned versions. This will reduce the chance of rejecting the new organ because it's of the same genetic material.
- Help reduce aging. *I forgot about the details about this one*
I think there's more but I forgot...=/
Anyways cloning is a good idea in terms of medicine.
But if you want to be diabolical, go make a clone army.

the bright side:
-clone organs can be used for spare parts for ourselves
dark side:
-even they have souls, using them as spare parts is sounds wrong
-human may make clone as a soldier like in film
technology and science have bright and dark side, it's up to us human how to use it...

You people are all in the light as said in black lagoon.
so ur saying that cloning artificial humans is not human? but i ask u, do u know that there are places in this world where people sell their organs just to feed themselves? or people get killed and disected and sold on the black market since they cant pay their depts? and yeah i know this happens like normal thing in some places since i am not from the bright side of the world. if we can clone artificial humans and at least save the real humans and maybe save those real humans then we can talk weather or not cloning artificial humans is bad or good.
but with cloning like u all said it takes time and money so in those countries where crimes like those are present they wont make any difference since human like is worth less than raising an artificial being

I was going to look and see arguments on why cloning is bad but I don't wanna look thru all of the posts. What I got was "there's too many people," and "mad scientists."
I'm all for cloning but I need to know the down side. The only reason I go with yes is that there is no downside displayed. Religion says it's playing god, or so I hear, but what's wrong with playing god?
Another would be that clones don't have as long a life span as the original. How is that bad? (i'd see they're pro abortion. for the record I don't care about abortion.)

I thought clones lived just like originals? Is there any real proof that clones have shorter lives?
I'd say cloning organs and stuff is good, but cloning another person is pointless. If you want to make a clone of your dead wife, good luck with that, because the clone won't have the memories of your wife, and she won't actually look like your wife until she grows up. So, yeah, you could replace your dead wife; you would just have to seduce a woman who looks like your wife but may not be anything like her and is half your age.

Since the discovery of telomeres the general public came to the conclusion that clones have shorter lifespans. I believe that that actually is not the case but that cloned creatures tend to age worse than regular animals. Something cloned can live a full life but they'll probably get hit with some kind of sickness before a regular animal would.
As for cloning, until genetic engineering is better there's not much point outside of ego and desperation. If I could clone myself I'd like to keep a copy of myself around forever just for the fuck of it. But really there isn't any point since people can just have kids that are at worst genetically equal to anyone cloned. If they made a template human being that was essentially equivalent to Superman then cloning would save a lot of time otherwise invested in bringing up regular people to that status.
Cloning organs is fine.

this topic is somewhat related to NGE's rei ayanami, and somewhat related to ghost in the shell theme, this is cool, just reading other people's responses here really amaze me :D
yeah i kinda like the idea having clones, when you can make your clones do some work while ya relax at home, that would be great, but it will be bad too coz if you discover your clone be stealing your girlfriend behind your back.

I don't understand why people are worried about clones of themselves or clones taking over the world. Just for the record, that is not how cloning works. That's fucking childish.
