Could Our World Today Be Advanced Without Technology?

Aren't we considered advanced because of technology or is that just me?I agree. The question is sort of like "can we be advanced without being advanced?"
Kinda of a wierd thing to ask.

I think something could happen to our technology in the near future. The sun is overdue for another huge solar flare. There was one 1989 that knocked out the energy grip in Quebec for 9 hours. Devastated the economy.Something like that could happen, except one a much more powerful one. Could devastate the economy and energy and crap. Without energy, the technology we have can only go so far.
But I think if humans didn't have technology, especially those in first world countries, there would be a huge panic. Millions would starve as food spoils because there's no electricity. Oh man.... The world would be a hell hole for several years until we can get some electricity of some sort.
Please get your scientific facts straitened out or prepare to be laughed at.
Your scenario is very unlikely. Solar flares can damage sensitive electronics, but our power grid and refrigerators aren't among them. (...or at least in countries where the power grid is sanely designed and maintained by the state instead "Cheap Expenditures & Max Profits").

I think that the old Romans and Greeks were more advanced than we actually are. Not from the technology but from the culture and the society. Back there, the people had sense for art, had philosopher's, had an halfway safe environment, etc. And unlike today the people (as far as I can speculate about it) weren't unable to think out out of the frame, no restrective religions, no deadlocked education-system, etc.

I'd rather go back to a world where our technology never existed, lets see how people function without it.

Back then only a tiny fraction of society had education or franchise compared to what we have now. They also had a lot shittier life expectancy, the politics of the day were often turbulent and resulted in violent conflict and bloodbaths.
The general public was meanwhile suffering under a back breaking toil of producing merely enough to feed themselves and your "elite" and as a consequence had even worse quality of life.

What makes us advanced?
Is it the ability to ponder thoughts?
If so, wouldnt you agree that pondering brought about technology, thus technology makes us advanced?
This is my view upon the topic...

I think there are those who will fare better than others. There are still people in our world who live with no electronics anyway. But I think the ones who are dependent on technology will be tricky to read. I think there will be some who could cope with it after a certain amount of time, but some might not be able to adapt. We've all heard of people committing suicide for a far lesser reasons and I wouldn't be surprised if people went out of their minds and mass suicides could ensue.
I agree, but most of the population probably could cope (unless all motor vehicles get wiped out too, then it gets bad)

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
Not as we are now. Humanity is advanced in a way no one could have dreamed up, even only a century ago. If we suddenly lost all technology, we'd go back to beating eachothers heads in with sticks, and remember what once was.

There is a predicted event that will occur that may just do what we all fear: end of all electronics. 2012 is the year that the sunspot activity reaches its apex. At this point, there will be solar storms galore. A particularly strong one will basically knock out all the electronics and electrical grids across the whole world. There's a whole news story about it, and I'm sure google will yield information regarding this. So get ready guys - we're gonna be without electricity for quite a while(note: good time to stock up on propane for your grill, electrical stoves will not work).
Technology is basically applied science that is geared towards helping humans with their daily activities, whether it be communications or simply opening a can of fish. Anything from a baseball bat to your iPod is technology. I'm thinking this thread's more about electronics and processor based appliances, and in that light, no way would I accept that kind of society. I'd be the ones to try and repair the system, although I will be without the net for quite a while. (not a problem; I'll get some study done while I wait)
Humans will still retain technological prowess no matter what we do. A basic human instinct is the want to modify our environment (learned in psych 101). Even early humans exibited this in the form of tools and constructed housing.

It seems like the computer we have, the rockets we use, the nukes we launch, and the laundry machines we clean with are what makes us an advanced society. But is it possible for us to still be advanced, if all the technology in the world were to disappear?
The Mayans were incredibly advanced for their time (I think), but that's not what I'm talking about. I mean, right now, if guns didn't exist, computer didn't work, basically, picture a worldwide EMP going off, and lasting forever. Would we be able to adapt?
I don't think so. Caz technology encompassed communication with other countries
