You missjudge people who are affraid of dying in fact , you have to ask yourself the utimate question ; why ? Why are they affraid of dying ? The answer is simple ; they love their life (or they want to love it) , for their friends , their boy/girlfriend , their family , their job or whatever the reason is .. they love the life ... As long as you love your life , you fully lived your life ... (Isn't that the ultimate goal to live ? Being happy ?). They are not affraid of dying , they are affraid of losing their life ..
-They would rater die , than lose their life -
And there is exeptions like the moron who posted before me that contredict what i'm saying ...
The only reason anyone fears death is the same age old fear of the unknown that has always driven our superstitious side. To know why people fear death, you must ask why people fear the unknown - which is primely because it brings change. So we have arrived at the fear of death being synonymous with the fear of change, which is as you say: if you love your life, it is logical to wish it not to change.
However, there is nothing logical about wishes in of themselves, because a wish will not come true for its own sake. Everyone dies, and fearing it, or not fearing it, will not change this. I am not certain that I love my life, but I certainly do not hate it either. It is what it is, and I will follow it through to whatever end for curiosities sake at very least. That being said, I cannot say that I do not fear death, because certainly everyone fears death on a reflexive level, I am certain that this is undeniable. On an intellectual, intelligent, and premeditated level though? I absolutely do not fear death.

If you are prepared to die then you would probably not be scared of dying.
As for my case, I think I'm still a little bit scared although for now I think I'm not scared.
I don't have a Thanatophobia.

I'm not too fussed about death. Part of me wants to know that will happen afterwards (as in what people will say/think about me), but then part of me is resigned to the fact that once you're dead, you're dead and it doesn't matter. We are dying from the moment we're born, the only fear for me is that it'll be painful.

He who is afraid of dying does not live his life to the fullest. You can say that all you want, but there are still people who could get 100 times what the wizard gave the Cowardly Lion and we would still be terrified of death. Atheism gives one the moral and intellectual high-ground, but at the same time...this is it. One's sentience is false and based purely on the right kind of chemical and electrical interactions in one's brain. And at the same time, that self-awareness is incredibly painful because we fear it ending. When it ends, we are no-more. No heaven, no afterlife, that's it. Dead. Life is but a meaningless, purposeless struggle to eat until we can fuck, repeat, and die off so we don't consume too much resources. Try and assign deeper meaning all you want, but that's what it boils down to.
So yeah, say nice little platitudes aaaallllllll you want. Doesn't change the face that people like me will cling to whatever scraps and strands we can until it is physically impossible to do anything but let go.

You know after hearing some of these responses I have to wonder if I'm the only one who'd rather die aware of my passing , rather then just go in my sleep. Despite how agonizing it may be if I'm on the way out I want to be fully present..not just fade into black like sleeping ,or in the blink of the eye never knowing.

All that raw emotion would be like living it up right before you kick the bucket.

What's the point of being afraid of something that cannot be changed? It'd be like being afraid the sun was going to rise in the morning, or that you'll have to take a shit eventually. Pointless.
I'm personally curious to see what happens. Could be nothing, but at the same time it could be something.
However, I'm not in any hurry to find out, just in case it's the former rather than the latter.
So I'll enjoy my time here whilst I can. And when I do die, then I'll know. It's especially curious to me cause I don't believe there will be a heaven or what have you waiting on the other side.
If you think about it it can seem kind of exciting. I have the one side of me that wants
to find out what comes after death, but I can not help the little splinter of fear in the back of my mind.

I'm not afraid death.....
because it will happen sooner or later.....
everybody will meet death, and earth itself not last forever, someday our planet even our galaxy will destroyed, and everything (human, animal, plants) will face death.

well if you wanna be technical many scientist believe the universe itself is on route to annihilation via the big crunch...mind you such an event will likely not occur within the expected life of our galaxy (as we know it at least since some evidence proves we are on an EVENTUAL collision course with another galaxy) much less our planet, but ya just cause everything dies does not make it any less scary..I'm not saying fear of death should control our lives ,but I think it is highly unnatural for any human being to not fear death on SOME level.

The fear of death is natural isn't it? because death is the end, regardless of how it happens or why. I even remember something about how all civilization is just a way for people to keep there minds off death.
basically, the reason why we try to live life to the fullest is because we fear death and don't want life to end.
isn't it the same no matter how you put it?

Death of the body is nothing to fear. For it is just the shell that contains the soul. Death of the soul is to be feared. Death of the body is a form of freedom its sets free the soul into whatever form of afterlife/paradise/nivana/hel awaits it. Death is merely the beginning of a new journey.

Death comes for us all. I have accepted that and intend to A) Do what I can with the little time I have. B) try to stop it (Sounds dumb, but dumb shit is how cool shit is made)
If death comes knocking on my door I would open it and invite it in for some coffee before I go. I do not fear death. I fear people.

Death doesnt scare me so much as old age does. Ive come to accept that everyone will die eventually, but whenever I see an old man who needs help just getting up the stairs, I freak out. The thought of not being able to do many of the things that I can do now just horrifies me.

But won't you still fear the end of your time on earth? Not if you live your life without any regrets. When your conscious is cleared and you have obtained self-peace.
There's this book that I've read half-way called 90 minutes in Heaven, for those of you who are curious to know what happens after death.
There is so much to do in this world, that it's probably scary for you to leave. Some people think that death is defeat. It's not. When you're dead, your spirit/soul can rest.
Think on living an immortal life. How frustrating and sad it must be to watch those around you die off, until you are nothing more than a lonely person doomed to wander the earth. I'd say, living forever is far worse than dying. Not saying that you should die early, but you should be ready to die when you have reached a clarity of your own peace. That's probably why I do everything I can. If I don't risk now, I end up feeling regretful tomorrow.

Death is my guide, I follow it with the shadows through the path of darkness.
Dead I´m the dog, hound of hell you cry,
Devil´s on your back, I can never die.
The universe, and you, need dead to live; the perfect circle of nature (Gaia), life going to death, and death feeding from life.
So, I can´t fear death, because I´m already death.
