Do we Accept I.Q as Intelligence?

IQ is just a way to measure your problem solving skills, way of reasoning and logic. First of all, there is a difference between being knowledgeable and being intelligent (as in having high IQ). Even if you have memorized an entire encyclopedia, it does not help your IQ, but other people will think that you are smart since you know a lot of stuff.
Of course, being stupid does not have to do with IQ either, since stupidity is mostly what people who are NOT knowledgeable is considered being, while that does not measure their ability to solve problems or seeing the patterns in a puzzle which is what IQ is about.

Intelligence and Common sense go hand in hand... as far as i am concerned you can be the smartest person on earth as far as the tests and everything go .. but still a total waste of life without common sense...
basically all these formulas and tests just to measure ones intelligence are a pointless way to make people Feel good about themselves.
According to the legal system i am borderline insane... those people however who actually take the time to listen to me think i belong in politics

My thoughts exactly. I think Common sense is the deciding factor on how smart a person really is. It's also much rarer to find someone with a lot of common sense these days...

True and not true. Common sense is mostly believes of morals that the society has taught you, and does not help you when you try to learn math, or physics or whatever.
For example; Common sense is that you should not go around and kill people. Why shouldn't you kill people? Because it's bad and wrong (badang =D). Why is it wrong? Because the law say so, cuz' your mother taught you so etc. This was not common sense thousands of years ago (not in the way we see it now at least), and it did not change because we became "smarter", it was a change in culture and moral values that did it.
Of course, Common sense can have different meanings, like that 1 + 1 = 2, that is also Common sense, but the formula that decides that 1 + 1 = 2 is something your IQ has made it harder or easier for you to learn (note that this is a very, VERY basic example).
Well, point being that in the end, some qualities of Common sense involves IQ, but most of it is just moral bs.
Edit: Actually, I guess that you can say that Common sense is the average of your EQ and IQ? =D

Yes, common sense does not allow the person to do problem solving, but I mention it because when someone lacks it, it is painfully apparent and no matter their test scores, they still tend to seem retarded in my eyes.
I disagree on the fact that common sense is something society teaches you. I think its something you teach yourself.

So you do not think the way you were raised, your parents opinions, in the specific culture with some specific values that you live in, what they taught you in school, what the law says etc had anything to do with what you value as Common Sense today?

Sure, society can influence you, but ultimately you decide for yourself what is common sense. There are many cases where people "fight the system".
