alright, since we were all kids once..doesnt anybody remember the times where we really never paid attention to anything and wander off to do something else? (young age)
[size=10](well sometimes kids dont give a shit. some even disregard what was taught and do it anyways) lol, adolescence.[/h]
if someone said this already then damn.
if not! then yay! :3
Even if kids are going to ignore what's being taught, at least the teachers/parents tried to teach the child. And I'm sure at least one child would pay attention.

I ballparked at 12-13 since that's typically the age of puberty and when the knowledge is more relevant. Teaching seven year-olds that masturbation is perfectly normal and what a fallopian tube is seems too preemptive since they likely don't give a crap or understand at that age. Some kids "have sex" when they're still in single digits but technically there's no risk so getting them before puberty is a nice thought but not an entirely sensible priority.

I think sex education should start as early as 8 years old, but not in a sexual sense. What I mean is that we should be teaching the younger kids what their genitalia are called, how they work in terms of urination and basic reproductive function. At least then, if they do get curious, they can know how to ask for information. Once they get older (11 or 12, at the latest), then we can explain how the sexual elements of the reproductive cycle take place (if they don't already know).
The youngest I remember being and receiving some sort of comprehensive sex education was 16. That was the public schools, anyway; I learned about the basics way before that. However, from kindergarten on our teachers taught us how to avoid sexual predators, so I suppose that sort of counts for something.

rather kinda than much, but yeahI wasn't aware that I was in an argument. I'm quite sure I was simply stating my own opinions.

right, right...
either way, i ll explain to you why i consider that post before a straw hat argument.
this is not what would (or at least not what should) happen when teaching prebuscent kids about the basics of sex (since it has little to do with it).

That statement was a joke regarding prepubescent childrens lack of interest in sex education of any kind. I wasn't seriously suggesting that's what it would be. An actual straw man would have been something closer to the lines of "so you people think that we should be teaching our kids how to become pornstars and prostitutes at seven years old?" or something equally senseless.
Teaching little kids about "bad touching" and whatnot isn't really sex-ed either. It's teaching awareness of predators. Telling them not to finger each other or expose themselves is manners and respecting personal space.
Also, "straw hat argument" makes no sense. You had it right with "straw man".

oh damn, the straw hat was a typo or freudian or whatever (too much one piece -probably- and seeing how luffy is rather dumb that is where i might have made the connection). either way, i seem to be rather immune to sarcasm over the internet, ya know, the lack of voice modulation makes it rather problematic for me to see when someone is joking, and the overwhelming presence of this kinds of errors led me to believe that they are the rule rather than the exception.
why did you later say that you were just stating your opinion if it was a joke anyway?

I always thought sex-ed was knowing everything about sex, I found out the cake was a lie. Anyhow, it's probably best learned before your adolescence, maybe a little after 10 years old. Don't want them to get too interested and having bathrooms filled with cream.
I think what the church taught had the opposite effect on me, it got me more interested in it and I got caught the day I looked up porno on the internet. I felt horrible and didn't start into it till many years later...
