Europe's shift to the right
1
As many of you already have noticed, more and more rightist parties have drastically grown in influence all over Europe, from Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, to Austria. There are also more and more extreme rightists, neonazi-bands are mushrooming. And this new neonazi-ideology is a pan-European one, it regards Europeans as one "race", and steers up hate against everybody else. (Although the main Y-DNA in Europe, which means R and I, Haplogroups indicate that Europeans are not closely related to each other). This goes so far that in Austria immigrants from Christian-eastern European countries, who have the Austrian citizenship, favor voting right.
We all know this is the consequence of bad economy, educational systems falling apart, failed integration policies. But could this shift to the right be more than just a trend? Could racism become socially acceptable? This of course would solve no problems, but only increase the existing ones.
If rightist parties manage to actually win elections with majority, what could this mean for the stability of the EU and the world?

The economic downturn and all the other issues are just scapegoats for thinly veiled racism, and we all know that just take Germany's experience after the First World War.
It's basically Nazi Germany all over again except this time they're not targeting the Jews. In a nutshell it's easier to blame someone/something than to actually solve the problem.
Edit: Ugg had to re-write that.

It wasn't only the economic downturn which made so many Germans in the 30s vote for the Nazis, but one very important factor: national humiliation. After the first world war Germany was made guilty for everything, it got embargoes imposed on itself which starved 2 million people to death, it had to give away coal to the winner nations, it had to reduce its army to 100.000 man, without bombers, battleships or tanks. All parties promised to solve the economic downturn in one or the other way, but only Hitler promised to return Germany's former glory. "Solving the Jew-issue" was not the reason the Nazis were elected. Jews rather filled the holes in the Nazi-argumentation, than to be the motor in their campaigns. Hardly any German who wasn't a Nazi would have agreed with the mass murder of Jews. Jews were a well integrated part of German society for hundreds of years, and many famous Germans were Jews; poets, scientists, economists, philosophers, and politicians.
The parallel to today is the lack of cultural integration of foreigners. People feel scared of what they don't know, they feel threatened when some dark-skinned people speak a language they don't understand. And instead of educating themselves, and to be able to enrich themselves in foreign culture, they vote the rightists. Such people are usually mid-low class people, that lack both education in general and professional success.
But "achieving" cultural integration can never be such a big factor as healing national humiliation, so it can't be "Nazi Germany all over again", i am not worrying about that. But as I said, if the neo-Nazism keeps growing as it is, it maybe become socially acceptable one day and thereby set a foundation to a totally new political spectrum in the parliaments. This is the real threat.

I wouldn't exactly call the situation a Nazification of Europe, rather a stronger wave of support to the much more conservative parties, which can admittedly go quite right wing. But the word right wing is up for debate, as is Fascism right wing? is socialism left wing? because the Nazis were National Socialists.
Nationalism plays a big role, particularly now that the EU is such an integral part of politics there, and there are some quite non-EU sentiments going (fuelled by nationalism) and the more conservative parties are the some of the only parties which disagree with the EU gaining more at the cost of sovereignty.
The financial crisis is also a huge thing, not only for the worse of countries - like Greece and Spain (who are both fucked financially), but also because that other EU countries have to foot a lot of the bill for their mistakes. Germany had to pay a hell of a lot of money to help Greece - this was right at a time where the country wasn't doing that well financially and when people had to vote.
Also its also because they provide perhaps a more attractive alternate than the other parties. Some while ago in England, there was this huge scandal where major politicians from the 2 major parties were misusing public money on themselves and many voted locally on small parties, marking an increase in the more nationalistic party BNP.
But it also has to be taken into account that Europe is considered rather liberal and social, especially in comparison to other places. Look at Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands. Gay marriage is legal, cannabis, etc. (depending on the place of course (like not the Vatican).
Not really relevant, but I think its rather funny that Europe is going right and America seems to want to go left now...

Besides, it was the support of the industrials like Flick and Krupp why Hitler came to power in the first place.
So the Nazis were as right as it gets, regardless of what they called themselves to be.

Racism will remain an inherent cultural barrier for many years to come, but this shift is cyclic, and it will not last. I am unfortunately stuck in a historic town of a solidly Conservative block of English counties, and let me tell you, if not for my language-orientated secondary school and its boarding house, I might not have seen a black person outside of the major cities.
It is these areas which breed racism by media influence and wild assumption, and I believe it thus to be as much an issue of foreign integration countrywide, distribution of immigrants if you will, as one of education and cultural immersion. The unfortunate situation we're facing at the moment is that to normalise foreigners by this means requires further immigration, which is itself limited by the ignorance it propagates.
As long as countries remain stuck in this loop, and indeed where immigration is temporarily limited by such governments, the cycle will continue, with existing immigrant areas and youth votes maintaining the balance. With increasingly liberal generations enveloping old politics and existing immigrant populations entrenched, the situation can only improve.

Racism will remain as long as there are different races.
Once we're all one race. We will most likely develop something else prominent and easy to differentiate to mock a variety of people and hate them for it.
And it's natural for a country to shift from one party to another when there is a problem we perceive going on during that party's time. Even if they have nothing to do with it.
We also do this when things go well. So it's a two way road.

There is only one race, the human race. 99,5% of the genome of every Human are identical. We don't have to merge into one "race" to hate each other for various different reasons, we already do it. Just look at the Hooligans from the football clubs beating the shit out of each other, although they are from the same town.

I didn't do shit to your rep kid. At all. Don't blame me just because people think you're an idiot. I did, however, nega-rep you just now for you blaming me, actually caring about rep, and in general being an idiot. And just cause.
Humans as a whole is a species. Race is a sub-category we like to use as a distinction. Referring to it as the Human Race is an inaccurate statement. It should be species. Though you could even argue that there are more species that are consider as Humans, of course this is going in reverse of what you are wanting so yeah.
And apparently you don't understand the point of my post at all so yeah.

You probably have a secondary account.
Thanks!
You can look up the statement of any major association of anthropologists, as f.e. the one from the American Anthropological Association about "race"(http://www.aaanet.org/stmts/racepp.htm). I am not going to waste my time with you.
Make a third account and vote me down again, lol!

You are showing your idiocy again.
You do know that statement means that they don't believe that there is a requirement to divide humans based on race, not that they believe humans are all one race. They even refer to it as a human species properly. Your own article is calling you an idiot.
If you want an example on more of why you don't understand how things go.
It would be like going to dogs, and going "Well I don't think there is a reason we should divide them by breeds anymore." It would not be them declaring dogs as all one breed, but that there would be no reason to divide by breeds.
Because that is what races and breeds are. Tools to divide further. The division Human, or Homo Sapien, is species. It is not a race even if you don't divide it further by races.
And even if the anthropological association does declare they don't think there is room to divide by races (I already knew this fact btw.) it doesn't change the fact that in general people still use the division and there will still be racism.
So your statement was made with lack of knowledge, lack of understanding, and is completely pointless.
And then you go and accuse me of multiple accounts. Are you really that arrogant to think you're that important to me or something? You're nothing kid. Don't forget that.

Your attempts to "teach" me Phylogenetics are hilarious!
The Article says:
AAA wrote...
Evidence from the analysis of genetics (e.g., DNA) indicates that most physical variation, about 94%, lies within so-called racial groups. Conventional geographic "racial" groupings differ from one another only in about 6% of their genes. This means that there is greater variation within "racial" groups than between them.AAA wrote...
Ultimately "race" as an ideology about human differences was subsequently spread to other areas of the world. It became a strategy for dividing, ranking, and controlling colonized people used by colonial powers everywhere. But it was not limited to the colonial situation. In the latter part of the 19th century it was employed by Europeans to rank one another and to justify social, economic, and political inequalities among their peoples. So the article obviously states that THERE IS NO RACE. Learn reading properly.
You are from now on on my mental ignore-list. Thank you, and goodbye!

I think you got more stupid.
But I can't be sure. Maybe it just wasn't revealed before?
Or maybe you just have the inability to understand anything someone says to you.

A joke aside:
Teacher: Sally, what have you been doing during the break?
Sally: I have been playing in the sand box.
Teacher: Good, write "box" correctly on the blackboard, and you will get a chocolate bar.
Sally writes "box" on the blackboard and gets a chocolate bar.
Teacher: Jimmy, what have you been doing during the break?
Jimmy: I have been playing hide and seek.
Teacher: Very well, write "hide" correctly on the blackboard, and you will get a chocolate bar.
Jimmy writes "hide" on the blackboard an gets a chocolate bar.
Teacher: Jamal, what you been doing during the break?
Jamal: The other kids were throwing stones at me and calling me names.
Teacher: This is blatant racial discrimination! Jamal, if you write "blatant racial discrimination" correctly on the blackboard, you will also get a chocolate bar.

Why the f*ck did i get -1 reputation on this post? And this was before i edited the joke in! Get a fucking life Kalistean! Is this the only way you can "argue"? On every discussion with you (see "Is Atheism a religion"), you rate my posts down!
Chill out Tachyon, a little -rep is not the end of the world. Also, its a little insulting to accuse people of having alts just because you got -rep'd twice. Did it occur to you that maybe someone else didn't like your post?

Except that isn't a fact.
Human isn't a race. It's a species. We've been over this. Even your own article confirms this for you.
How do you not get this?

Yes, actually there is. Some people just won't like what you have to say. Hence, -rep. Also, your "joke" was most certainly not a scientific fact.

You can not ban people from specific threads. I will however stop commenting as I don't really care about Europes shift to the right.
