I know this is a serius discussion but I could not resist posting thisHilarious! XD
Spoiler:
this explains very well how absurd the bill is.
They let those illegal immigrants take away their land and their jobs and now what, you can buy your citizenship for a few thousand bucks? that's like selling your virginity... or something

I just think its funny (No affence i have an american cit.) how americans call people from another country ALIENS!!!i mean really. its just not very nice and it makes me laugh

on immigration in general i tend to think people should just go through the legal process required by the country they want to live in and should get the boot or pay some sort of penalty if they fail to stay within its legal framework.
although i can see some of the complaints about the system being too long and complicated, it too my girlfriend about 10 years to get her citizenship, and i knew someone else that had to start almost completely over just because of a speeding ticket(which was already differed)

See fodder, while all of that is true to an extent you left out one key part. Bus is the president with Veto rights. He could have thrown it out with the flick of a wrist (I mean that literly.). As for the nazi's policies I will go on record of saying this and it may come back and bite me in the as but that is fine. They were some of the most politically intelligent people and they had great idea's on health care and government, but totally bad morals and execution. We are not trying to make this a Red vs Blue debate, but simply seeing if many people agree with the immigration bill that is trying to be passed at the moment. Nothing more nothing less.
Also, if you want to bring up Iraq, I have a couple of friends who have been and come back, one that also died there. Yes it is different from what they show on the media, but is it better? From what I have heard from them and read in letters, I doubt it.
Lets not forget that Congress can throw out the Veto, unless Bush "pigeon holes" it, meaning he takes the bill and hides it and acts ignorant about it, but seeing as how much the citizens of this country have come to know about it, it's far too late for that. I have mixed feelings about it. While I'm all for people having a better life and I'm tired of seeing my countrymen with such humiliating lives. Though I do think background checks are crucial to those from countries hostile to the US. Plus I'm more for getting things done the legal way, though what would you do if you had sick or impoverished family members and had a choice of paying hundred of dollars and months of waiting to be allowed to come in legally, not to mention time to look for a job and enough time to get paid?
Though one of you earlier stated that if a country is under a dictatorship of sorts, What they really can do is claim Refuge, which could grant them entry sooner. Many Jews from the pre, circa, and post WW2 era emigrated into many different countries. even south America. Ever hear of "Sabado Gigante", a spanish variety, comedy sketch and game show aired in Miami?
The host, Don Francisco, is a Chilean born to Jewish Refugees who escaped to South America to flee Nazi Germany.
i don't have as much time to touch on this subject as I would like to, but It seems to me like Congress and the democrats want attention. What happened to the war on terrorism? what about the war on poverty? Deal on REAL issues to improve this country. I say that instead of paying $5000, those of age should be put into an obligatory military service. It pays well and takes care of families, but at the same time, they would be doing this country a service. As much as an Honor I saw it as. And don't let all your friends talk fool you(I know ppl in my age range would say its fascist or it sucks because well, thats how young people are. I've served since I turned 18. ), it's a regular job, and it really has great benefits. I'm just proposing an Idea I came up with while talking about this with a coworker.
On the other hand, I think why some people come in illegally and refuse citizenship thing is because of their pride of their home country. I speak from first hand experience. I came in at around 2 years old, but I declined becoming naturalized because of my pride. Sure it bit me in the ass by not letting me get into a job that required a higher security level, but being in is being in. I get paid, I saved a lot of money and I blew most of it. lol. I love this country and I love my own the same. Its a hard choice to make, but its all based on what you want for yourself and your family. This is my home and it always has been, I wouldn't like to be kicked out either. Currently working on my citizenship now, being processed. now i just have to wait. I didnt do it because of the bill, I did it so I could stay in service longer.
One thing about illegal aliens as well, not all of them come from the southern border. What about those European, Carribean, Asian and African immigrants who overstay, are trafficked (smuggled), or sneak in through other means?
Sure seeking refuge is a credible excuse, but with the time to investigate any evidence and background checks on a thin force of FBI agents who work on that no to mention the immense volume of aliens coming into one country with so much open land that isn't monitored. The FBI, Military, Customs, Immigration services are spread thin, especially since the terror alerts started, plus adding this bill as well is going to put a strain on that.
but to touch more on my mixed feelings, They try to connect this with fighting terrorism, but do you really think that any one coming from the south would want their chances of getting into the US to become compromised by a terrorist posing as a mexican, for one, many of them dont wear deodorant, so thats one dead giveaway, less they've crossed the desert.
And about Taxes, many of them get paid under the table and that is untaxable. so if you dont get a real check from a real job, it wont get taxed. if they work anywhere at minimum wage, like say, Mcdonald's, they get taxed. So it's not like all of them dont pay taxes. Who pays taxes out of their own will? who would?
it's taken out of your pay, so its not like you can say they cant pay taxes. I don't recall sending money to the IRS, they take it out of my paycheck. so any legal paycheck gets taxes deducted. But it can get more complicated than that. I dont have as much information, but visitors and possibly migrant workers, wouldnt have to pay taxes for living in the US for a limited amount of time. But still any paycheck they get that doesnt come from a private financier, say...the farmer you work for, or restaurant owner, taking advantage of paying less for more, would be taxed. so that contradicts what they say about illegal aliens not paying taxes. The ones that should be punished for that are those who really abuse the system. Who wants to get paid 5 to 10 dollars a day for 8-16 hours of work just to not pay taxes? screw that mess, with say less than $100 dollars taken out of a $4-500 paycheck, which would you choose?
So you see, it's not the workers who don't pay taxes, It's those that pay them, Cash is untraceable and record books edited. Its those who commit tax evasion and they blame the workers. but I'm going to use this stupid analogy an an example; You're drug supplier is committing a felony by selling and possessing illegal substances, but you use them, would you rat on them and lose your supply? Hell no you wont.
basically, would you rat on your boss who pays you meager wages, though it's the only thing you can get? would you risk losing money to turn them in? to them it's a necessary evil. And it's necessary because those who work those jobs do backbreaking labor. Picking crops, manning convenient stores, dry cleaners, nail salons, house cleaners, dish washers, cooks, construction.
Every job we take for granted, Could you imagine the damage that would do to the economy? if they get deported, it comes to a screeching halt! Remember when there was that "day off" protest a year or two ago? and that was only those who knew about it. Imagine that on a nationwide scale! for weeks, months.
If they become legal, no only could they have a chance at a better life and education, but there would be an economic disaster (remember the slave reparations sketch on the Chappelle Show?). The inflation to make all those under the table jobs at minimum wage Thats at least $800 a month multiplied by thousands. Prices would go up, The farming economy could go bankrupt or Boom up. This has to go slowly to avoid inflation, it's going to take years, like the war on terror. It's not over once Saddam and Bin Laden are caught. They have supporters and financiers, loyalists and sympathizers.
as an example, you still have Kim Jung-Il, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, and their supporters Al Qaeda, Abu Sayaf, PLO, Hamas, Hezbollah, Tamil Tigers. Who are being hostile toward the west and could definitely make a strike against the US and break out a world war. So you could see a tie in with all this immigration and terrorism stuff. plus not to mention that it's an easy cover up by changing the subject on Iraq and 9/11
Also the whole citizenship process can take years, who wants to go through that? A minimum of 2-3 years just as a Resident Alien plus getting your I-551 card, which costs somewhere between $200-500+, then a background check before or after, sometimes both, an investigation, paperwork, Money to process the paperwork (it's at $600+ now), any penalties you'd have to pay, updating your addresses each time so they can keep tabs on you, Making sure they update your address so they can keep tabs on you (they sent two appointment letters to my last addresses, luckily it was my friends house). Then it's wait time. not to mention time and cost of any commuting to the nearest INS office, the waiting time in said offices. It's a pain in the ass! luckily I was a kid when most of this happened.
shit i went on a rant again. lol
well. i'll look back on this later and put in some more things on the subject.
I hope this answered a lot of your questions. please reply and if you have any questions concerning what I wrote, post or message me.

Illiegal Aliens are a terrible problem in America, this is no dispute by experts. They come come here as criminals, they live here as criminals. They use emergency rooms at hospitals, but cannot be contacted for billing. They do not drive with car insurance or driver license, and they often flee from the scene of wrecks. The list goes on, my friends, and it is not Minsc's intention to prove what is easily proven....
Minsc has a better idea to deal with such ENEMY INVASION, and possibly make a profit simultaneously. Put armed guards on the border, slap footage of real-life gun battles on cable, and charge pay-per-view.
Also, raiding known homes of Illegal Aliens and job sites they work at, also makes for quality entertainment.

though it would catch the eye of mindless barbaric fools, it's inhumane. What you stated is stereotypical. sure some are facts but also look at the lawsuits that could ensue. Cities, counties, states can get sued for violating human rights. You my friend would be sued if you went through with your idea, not to mention sent to prison and you would become quality entertainment for the convict.
Also this is a serious discussion requiring serious answers. if you are serious, you need help. Go get a degree in philosophy of law or something, good luck with that, it's one of the hardest subject. but if you do, I'll give you a hundred bucks
thats free cash for you getting a high paying degree. :)
so comeback in say 8 years

Ever heard of a show that displays real life- cops vs. criminals? Are you saying 'COPS' is for barbaric mindless fools, also?
How is this any different? Illegal Aliens are criminals-they are breaking the law, the second they step foot on American soil. Good riddance to those who sneak into your land, spit on you, and still raise their home-flag and mock you in their native language.

It's always funny to see people all up in arms over illegal immigration when this country was founded on immigration.

Firstly, illegal immigrant and immigrant are two completely separate things. No one is arguing against 'immigration'.
Secondly, how does one make a comparison with United States when it declared independence on July 4, 1776 to current day August 03, 2007? Very absurd, but I would like to know the logic. That is like saying, we should go back to having slaves too.
Thirdly, very few people get "up in arms over illegal immigration", in fact, majority of people ignore it, or support it. That is the problem, and why many jobs are being taken from Americans, because companies can hire illegals cheaper.
The Bush administration is at least doing one thing right:

A bill that will make it easier to fine companies hiring illegals.

From the fakkumon thread:
Team Name: Border Hoppers Anonymous
-> Breeding (Produces allies to assist.)
-> Drug Dealing (Raises crime-rate.)
-> Prostitution (Gives enemy AIDS.)
-> Raise The Mexican Flag (Mocks the enemy.)
Actually illegal aliens tend to have much lower crime rates. Its their kids that are instantly citizens that have slightly higher crime rates then others in their socio-economic groups, even then it isn't that much higher. At least thats what a study found in Texas regarding Mexican illegal immigrants.
Although I am still against entering any country illegally.

Minsc considers the use of another person's SSN a crime, wouldn't you? That means the majority of Illegal Aliens are committing other crimes daily, such as identify theft.

I don't know too many specifics, was just replying to the drug dealing and prostitution part. If I remember correctly, the study had only used numbers of convictions and charges, so things like ID theft could be underrepresented seeing as how such things seem to be successfully linked to those committing the crime.
I'm not saying the government should be tolerant of illegal immigration or anything, just that it's better not to overdue it and use illegals as a scapegoat for societies problems.

Well, first thing, I believe in open borders. Listen to yourself, you're arguing about an imaginary line drawn in the dirt. I admit I don't know much about the topic (not much at all, to be honest), but that is my decision. Though I don't usually don't take part in illegal immigration debates, because frankly I don't care that much.
But really, I don't think you know anything about it either. All you've done, Minsc, is completely demonize illegal immigrants and make them out be be bloodthirsty terrorists. While I most definitely don't think that everyone that is against illegal immigration is racist, I think you are. And if you are, then why listen to you?
Edit: Just to clarify, I do think immigrants should pay the same taxes and stuff we do. Not just come to America and live without the same responsibilities everyone else has. I just think everyone should have an easy opportunity to come here, and if that means just having to pay $5000 and not have to jump through any hoops, then what's the problem?

Didn't realize that illegal immigrants were considered a race. They come in all shape, sizes and colors. Whether you be Canadian, Mexican, or moon-person.

Sorry, just using "racist" for lack of a better word. If you can come up with a better one, then shoot.
...immigrantist?

How about anti-criminal?
Here is a scenerio THAT should change all your views:
Minsc is tired of living at home. Home has poor conditions. Minsc sneaks over to your house, and starts living in your attic, without your permission.
Do you care now? America is our house, it is important to protect it. Anyone who says Minsc can move into their attic has one-too-many screws loose.

Well, the analogy isn't that great because my house is private property. Meanwhile, the country isn't, it's publicly owned (not sure if that's the right wording I want to use).
Oh, and I guess I'm a criminal, too, since I illegally download music and most often drive over the speed limit. Now are you going to make me out to be some lower life-form with no morals?
