Japanese Racism and Bigotry
0
I've been worried about this for awhile, seeing as I want to move to Japan, but have experienced some Bigotry, from my own family. My mom is Japanese, and my father is white, and my Japanese family rejected my dad because he was white. I was born, half Japanese, half white. I guess you can call me a half-breed at that. My mom's family accepted me, but they did not accept my father. They divorced, and now I am thinking of moving to Japan, maybe in the future (distant future) and I was wondering...
Would I, a half Japanese, half white person, experience more intolerance and racism than a full white person? If you think that maybe they will tolerate me more because I'm half, you may be wrong, as they may think of me as something that wasn't meant to be.

As another half-n'-half person, I can tell you this. You will have a hard time. We don't fit in with either group, and there are those who will take issue with you for no reason at all. Hopefully you are also 6'4", and shouldn't have too much of a problem.

If they will know u they will like u, at least in my thinking. I hope if u move to Japan u will have a great life with great and dependable friends =9 i wish u many-many great experience for the future^^

I look more Caucasian, so I feel like that may make a difference. Of course, even if i DID look more asian, they would still be able to tell I am half, so it really doesn't make a difference either way
unfortunately, I'm 3 inches taller than my 5'2' mother.

Well, I'm not Japanese, I'm Korean. But, judging from the Korean standpoint, yes you'd have a hard time.
We Koreans and Japanese stress purity a lot, so naturally, there will be problems being a half-half.
However, the majority of the time(mostly with the new generation), people will just pass by without too much care. Most of this disdain for half-half comes from the older generation.

Japan isn't know for it's friendliness to foreigners.
And anyone not born Japanese, in Japan, is a foreigner.
I do feel for you, mate. You should just visit, instead. Japan loves tourists.

1/10 are uncircumcised? omg...that's....wait. they're men or women?
btw....don't worry. i dunno if there's actually any racism in japan, but even if there is, it can never compare to the racism in my country....really, it's up to the point of ridiculousness.

Yeah, he said it. Last I checked, no matter what your race, a foreigner is a foreigner (In Japan). And I looked up this topic before, racism in Japan. Based on all that I came up with, appearance is important in Japan.
Not looking alike, and or being a foreigner, are bound to make things worse. It sucks.. but it seems to be true.
Of course, having never been to Japan (and only having the opinions and writing of many others), I wouldn't know for sure how it's like there.

Oh fuck, and here I was thinking Japan was totally awesome in every way. I never intend to live there anyways so it doesn't concern me. Sucks for you though.

YOU KNOW WHAT?! I decided I don't care about racism! They can think all they want about me, I am POSITIVE, the more westernized Japan becomes, the less racism there will be. At the moment the countries' population is made up of 1% foreigner. But you know what? Who gives? I want adventure, something new from this generic, average life in the USA. It might take a long time for them to change, but that really doesn't matter to me.
also, I'm circumcised. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Not really.
Some men do it for fun, others do it for Religion, and others yet do it for Medical reasons.
All it does is make pissing a bitch until you learn spray control w/o a foreskin.
(I haven't actually done it myself, mind. My father did some years back.)

What do you guys think the racism stems from?
I know in America, a lot if it is because either the race infringed upon used to be slaves, or because they took jobs nobody else wanted, and didn't leave when they wanted them.
Also: feel it out some, tell us what happened.

I think its a superiority complex that they share, thinking that they are better than others, and others should be kept out of the circle.

yeah but not at this level. this is a nation we are talking about, not a group of rich guys. The bigotry in japan is a combination of disdain for foreigners, destroying their culture, and 'introducing new forms of crime to their innocent nation'
