M-Rated Video Games:For Kids Too

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
I could play whatever I wished when I was younger. Really, made no difference to my parents (or step-dad for that matter)
But that's subjective. Cause even now when I visit my Mom, I'm still not allowed to watch South Park.

And do not get me started on that disturbing part Modern Warfare 2; I'm 20 and I couldn't sleep well for a few days after doing that in game.
I'm 19, and had no problem with that part. Is something wrong with me?

What's wrong with MW2? I slept well even after borrowing my friends 360 + MW2 and play straight 1 week.

Yeah I totally fail to see the big deal. I can think of a million worse things I have watched on television. It wasn't even as though you had to kill any of the innocent Russian civilians, only the police riot team were in your way.

whats wrong with MW2? havent played it yet so what could possibly be wrong with it?
What does it accuratly depicts real warfare? is that why some cannot stomache it?

There is a level where you go undercover as a member of Makarov's Russian terrorist group who goes on a killing rampage in Moscow International Airport. Basically it is controversial because Makarov's men (and yourself, if you choose to) go around gunning down innocent civilians, airport security, and police forces.

i see so its more like its controversial huh? I mean is it worse then CSI? its because their innocent civilians huh? well that makes sense but isnt that what happens in real warfare sometimes?

This is why they call it 'Modern Warfare'. Some people are seriously... sensitive to these types of things and they don't like violent games and anything 'mature' or else they might get a nightmare of being a victim of being a killer. Don't really think they can tell a difference between reality and virtual reality.
My little cousins play it and I don't give a Sh!t about ratings. I played Bioshock, Halo, CoD, and a hell other stuff and it doesn't bother me at all. In fact I love mature games, because it gives a sense of darkness. I love realistic games :)

Spoiler:
I agree with everyone else. "Who gives a flying fuck"; but mostly, why do you care? I mean; the more people buy it, the more money in your pocket, so you can buy more games. So the kids get screw up by M-rated games. Oh well, the world keeps spinning. What you should care about is when the parents try to shift the blame from them to you, the company, or game's company for fazing their kid. If it happens, Tell them off, and drive it into them HARD!

Who the fuck cares. There are worse things in life than violence and nudity in video games.Yeah like anything you might see on the news.
Same here, the only thing that gets me pissed is when they are "in your face and all", its just a game! You may have win but that doesn't mean you have to brag about it so much; wish there was something for them to teach a lesson.
Edit: Yes more money for companies and game development, but then govs pick on them for fail on selling games to kids; don't shove it all on them take it on the parent's acknowledgment.

Personally, I like to rationalize it by saying that some video games are like visual novels. Both Modern Warfare games had amazing stories that show where the world could very well be heading.
The key fact is that no matter what is happening it is a FICTIONAL story. Of course the sad thing is that [MW2]'s events are extrapolated from what would likely happen.

Paragraphs upon paragraphs!
Nothing to worry about really other than kids might make little "Hand" Guns.

You got one school shooting and all of sudden every kid between 13-19 will do the same of exposed to violent video games like CoD or GTA. Just not gonna happen. Some people might get disgusted or feel bad from the sight of blood or killing innocents, but then again, it's a video game. Kids can sort out reality from fiction, and those who can't, well, they might go on a rampage, but then again those people are very few (luckily I guess).
Rating systems are shit, let the kids buy what they want, it scarcely make them any more violent.

That is the big thing. Even without violent video games, there is still violence in just about every other aspect of American society. Movies, TV, music, hell, even books have violence. People just like to point out video games because you can interact with it.

People mature at different rates, and ratings don't take that in to account(in there defense that is not here job, they are supposed to try to gear there ratings toward the average person). There are some kids who are truly not able to handle violent videogames, and some kids learn early on the difference between fantasy and reality. I do think that parents should make sure they know what there kids are playing, and make sure that there child doesn't start confusing fantasy and reality
