Mom and Dad: real people, or roles to play?

I have two moms. They are lesbians, i was born by artificial insemination from an anonymous donor. I've never known my father, and i probably never will. My life has been normal for the most part, it's not really a different life from anyone else i know, however, people are always surprised when they find out. They act like it should make me different in some obvious way.

I love my parents and have a good life. I wouldn't trade them for anyone (although twice the motherly nagging is annoying).

So, i put it to you people of FAKKU. Do you think that parents must be what they are? Man and woman? Or are parents just the people who raise you?

For me parents should be just the ones who raised you to be.

Ah ya, don't give a shit about what other people say. The reason others think it's supposed to change you is because it's not the "traditional family model" (like it should make you an obvious fag otherwise). Some people also can't accept the fact that it's not going to stay that way forever. And yea, I'd say your parents are those who raise you, that is unless you want to be more specific and say biological parents. If they love you like their own (at least one of them does), and don't fuck shit up, then there's nothing wrong with them as your parents.

Also, who is the "man" of the family, or do both of them act girly?

But yea, I agree, your parents are they who raised you. Biological bonds don't mean much, As if that donor give a damn if he knows that you're the product of his fapping anyway.

Basically this. Just because your family may not be the traditional model doesn't mean they can't be good parents. And anyone who wants to get in your face about it can fuck off

They are both definitely "girly" in ways, however, one was a teacher (has a very dominant personality), so rather than being the "man" she is just kind of in charge.

I personally think that parents are the ones that raise you. If they are both Lesbian or Gay, so what as long as they love you and provide for you as the child grows up.

I wonder if you don't miss a 'father' person in your life. I always used to think both the father and the mother give roles to follow as a child for both girls and boys.

It might not matter whether the couple is straight, lesbian or gay, though I think there should at least be a little difference. Something that should be lacking.

Don't get me wrong though. I don't mean to say those marriages shouldn't exist.

I still remember how for my family tree chart in second grade, I listed one of my brothers as my father, and my teacher and principal called my parents in for a conference. It was in my opinion and still is in my opinion that the people who love you and watch over your development are your true parents.

I don't really think parents HAVE to be within some kind of specific sexes. However I will say that I believe that raising kids should be a two person job. I missed out on a lot without a single Parent and I know I'd be incapable of making up for a mother for any kids I'd have in the future.

I actually seen an episode on "30 Days" Where a woman who was against same sex parents lived with a gay couple with several children. I don't think there's anything wrong with same sex parents.

Hell, I don't even think a person needs 2 parents in order to be okay. I grew up with just my mom and without a father figure and I grew up fine.

But it might make people surprised now to hear that kind of news, but once our children are our age it won't be as uncommon for people to have same sex parents.

Parents are parents. My household was normal. My mother was around more simply because she worked at the same time I was going to school I ended up spending more time with her than my dad, to my dismay. Never did like my mother so that always sucked that she was always the one around except for on weekends.

Then my parents divorced when I was seventeen and because I was so close to adulthood the court let me pick what parent I wished to live with and I stayed in my house with my dad.

... I have no idea where I'm going with this. Anyway, parents are parents despite the family makeup. Despite gender, despite separations and emancipations, simply doesn't matter.

It takes a village to raise a child...

What does it take to be true parents? Not biology. Sometimes, I wished people have take a test to be approved for parenthood.

Mom and Dad are somewhat played out roles. The sweet, endearing mother and the somewhat harsh, manly father? Bah.

All you need is a person or two who genuinely give a crap about you to raise you and you'll turn out just fine.

Mom and dad are care taking roles which does not need to be connected to the actual parents.

Psychologically the child is suppose to have a female and a male role model to get the "right" emotional development. But since nobody can really say how you "should" have turned out, then I think a couple of happy/loving gay moms/dads are much better than a unhappy mom and dad.

Good parents will be good no matter their sexual preference or what other people say it right!
