Mustn't Run Away...
Yes I realize this is a ridiculous fear ,but it is honestly the only thing I'm afraid of besides the fading of my existence from the planet (not my death ,more like my death meaning nothing ,and me being forgotten) when I was serving my term in the marines I earned the loving nickname BA Baracus..Am I alone in my fear on here or are others on Fakku in the same boat, if so explain why you feel so great miles in the air ,and if your like me what exactly bothers you (for me its the total lack of control on the situation..having to leave the piloting, maintenance ,and security to someone else).

When I was a LAC (Leading Air Cadet) back when I was 12 I got to fly a 2 person
glider and I was okay for awhile when it was in the air and I kept it steady but
as soon as I went to make a turn I don't know if it was wind or something but the whole
glider started to take a dive and I freaked. Luckily my co-pilot was behind me and took
control of the craft before it crashed to the ground. Then there was the time I rode
a helicopter through the mountains while at a cadet camp. I was so scared because
we were so close to the edge of the mountains that I thought we'd crash and since there
is no parachutes I'd be dead for sure, But it all turned out okay.

Did anyone else laugh when they read that Shinji Ikari was scared of planes? I'm still chuckling over it. Seriously though, I'm not scared of planes at all. I'm more likely to die from being attacked by bees.
Now bees, bees scare the fuck out of me.

To be brutally honest (this might not help you), nature forbidding, (chances of that are 1 in a few million) you'd have to try to wreck a plane. Those things are deigned to fly; landing one is basically just a controlled crash.
No one laughed at my NGE joke? :(

Im not a fan of public planes either...
While we are on the topic of odd fears, Im a climber who's scared of heights. Its not the point of being at a high altitude that scares me, Im more afraid of sheer drops like a cliff or the side of a building. I remember going into the glass box on Willis (Sears) Tower with my girlfriend, and I froze up like a 6 year old kid.

Airplanes start to scare me the pilot gets paid less than what people working at walmart get.Not necessarily.
Pilots for a major airline or shipping company (such as UPS) can make anywhere from 20-50k in their first year to 120-210k in their tenth year as a pilot.

I'm fine on a plane. So long as I do not look down. then I see what I could hit with a super long fall and I freak right the fuck out.

If they made that little I would be afraid someone would say something about pilots as the guy walked past and he would decide to have another 9/11 on my ass.

It's statistically safer than literally any other kind of transportation...
Hell you could probably walk down the road and have a better chance of getting hit by a car and killed.
It's just that each time it happens, as rare as it is. The media blasts it all over the news for three weeks, and automatically assumes all planes are unsafe cause of one issue.

Even though statistically it may very well be the safest method of transportation, my personal fear of flying stems from imagining what would happen should an accident occur. The thing about planes is that if something malfunctions, the only hope one really has is the pilot being able to navigate the aircraft deftly onto solid ground or crashing into a body of water. Sure, if I had my own parachute I would definitely be less terrified, but that's just not the case. Hurtling through the air at dizzying heights, I would feel utter terror because I am unable to do anything. On the other hand, I feel a bit more at eas riding either a car or a boat because I have at least have some chance of making it out of the vehicle safely.

That's just stressing the small stuff.
Say you're driving a car, and a drunk driver (Or one texting on their cellphone, as seems to be the trend nowadays) smashes into the drivers side door. Killing, or at the least seriously injuring you.
Even being in a car, and even if you saw that coming, chances are you'd have no more control over the outcome than as if you were in a plane, with some man you don't know piloting it.
Thing is, almost everything you do you have a chance of dying from. Why worry? Just enjoy life, and don't stress over the little details.
