Mustn't Run Away...
hey i know its illogical , but honestly the lack of control in the situation combined with the fact that when something DOES go wrong it goes VERY wrong just scares the piss outta me :/

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
Anything going wrong is never good.
But still, you may as well start playing the lottery. You'll probably win that before you die in a plane crash.

"When something DOES go wrong"
I believe that include another vehicle as well ..... not just plane, but i can include cars, motorcycles .. etc etc ..
WRONG things never be good .. and i think it cannot be used as a reason ..
I personally like to be on planes ... it's relaxing to saw the scenery above the clouds and it is more comfortable than cars .. (to be honest, i always puking when ride a car)
so it depend on people taste .. nothing weird about it ..
but seriously, i laugh at the title ...
ambiguous meaning is ambiguous ..

Conventional Wisdom About Risk
Most of the time, when the perception of security doesn't match the reality of security, it's because the perception of the risk doesn't match the reality of the risk. We worry about the wrong things: paying too much attention to minor risks and not enough attention to major ones. We don't correctly assess the magnitude of different risks. A lot of this can be chalked up to bad information or bad mathematics, but there are some general pathologies that come up over and over again.
In Beyond Fear, I listed five:
* People exaggerate spectacular but rare risks and downplay common risks.
* People have trouble estimating risks for anything not exactly like their normal situation.
* Personified risks are perceived to be greater than anonymous risks.
* People underestimate risks they willingly take and overestimate risks in situations they can't control.
* Last, people overestimate risks that are being talked about and remain an object of public scrutiny.
Flying hits several of these rough rules and therefore its risks is severely exaggerated.
EDIT: Fuck - Quotes are not working either.

Cant say im scared of planes because without them, I couldnt get to awesome places. Just stick to good airline companies. If their are any.
JAL is so awesome I had to ride it only as a connecting flight. a 14hr connecting flight. The freakin remote is shaped like the classical nintendo and there's mario. Food's great, the plane has cams on the wings, underbelly, the fin and pilot's view cam(well it was an airbus). The engine was super quiet.
in short...it's rated awesome.
Now Qatar....holy shit that's a bad airline.
EDIT: I'm afraid of planes too. The first time I rode one was when I was 14 and I was so scared I got fever a few hours before my flight to china. This happened when they still had the SARS scare. Oh yeah I landed in china still scared shitless that I might be detained there for a few months

Airplanes scare me as well. I get sick easily, I think I have like motion sickness. Can't even sit in the car for half an house. An airplane is like hell in the air for me.

I wouldn't call it a ridiculous fear, we're all scared of something (I'm scared of wasps for gods sake.)
But after my first experience in a plane the only thing I left hating or scared of was the bloody ear popping thing, christ it was annoying! But apart from that I didn't mind it, I loved looking out the window and seeing the clouds.
But honestly I'd recommend to not avoid any flights, the more you face your fear the easier it gets to conquer it.

While I'm not scared of planes themselves, I am scared of turbulence and the sudden dips that the plane does while going through it.

I am not afraid of flying itself. Take off and landing can be a tad stressful tho. I have had a few bad incidents in the past (Like the wing almost touching the ground during a high cross wind take off, Feeling the landing gear press the floor boards up on a flight, one aborted take off, and a couple of touch and goes.)
