Stem Cells

It's fine with me.
I've never been big on ethics, so I say "whatever does a good job and gets us there". And, as it happens in life, sometimes you need to loose something to gain another. I think millions of unaware stem cells for ground breaking cures are a prtty good trade.
People don't seem to be making that much ruckus of say, mass pig or chicken farms (sure, there is some, but who gives a shit about it?).
It should be regulated to some degree, like all things that have a "great potential" (especially for harm), but not a hardass regulation like all those moralists would like.

I kept the first post simple because i didn't want to influence the responses but considering i got enough responses I think I can post something more meaningful now. I don't understand why people want to "regulate" embryonic stem cell research. I really hate the word they use which is "regulate" because if you really read the rules it makes it nearly impossible to do any research and the reason why embryonic stem cell research is lagging behind or not that promising is because scientists tend to avoid researching on it because of the moral issues. I don't see why the consent of parents who want to abort their child is needed. Precisely because, if they cared so much they wouldn't even be having the abortion in the first place. And if it is because of religion I just don't see how doctors can accept that as an excuse (mind you they are already having an abortion so if their conscience is still alive they would do the next best thing). There about 200,000 frozen embryos that no one wants anymore (frozen embryos from IVF) so I don't see why they won't allow scientists to use that

I don't see anything bad about it, except for "killing" so called "babies"
Inoculating fetuses is like killing a tree.
But even then the tree doesn't eat all my food take all my money and spew so many types of it's liquids all over me and my house.
It can make paraplegics walk and heal muscles tissue, restore bone marrow, and pretty much anything.
Its like injecting Harry Potter heroin.
That and anything to keep the population down.

Stem cell research is already heavily underway in a number of countries, and has been for years. Whether 'pro-life' activist(AKA hypocrites) like it or not.
It's only a shame that they delay that research. How many lives will be lost as a result...

People bitch about a lot smaller things than stem-cell research. Actually, people bitch about everything, and you hear about them because they are the loudest. In early 2010, a Gallup poll showed that 59% of Americans think it's morally acceptable for "medical research using stem cells obtained from human embryos" with 32% thinking it's morally wrong. A size-able minority, but a minority nonetheless. But they are the people you most closely associated with the debate on stem-cell research, not the issues themselves, not the data, but the people who bitch. Because they are the loudest.

I don't think there is any moral argument about it since they don't actually need fetuses for the stem cells.
You can harvest stem cells in the umbilical cords & these babies are going to get aborted anyway even if they weren't used for stem cells so they may aswell be recycled. Though I'm curious which one gives the most.

Stem Cells are awesome.
A company has recently developed artificial blood with them, that has a longer shelf life and is easily as taken to doners as type o. Its going to be used with combat medics in the field to save soldiers and peoples lives.

I've actually been to a stem cell orientation this year. My memory is pretty vague but I remember another moral question is, 'if stem cells grants us 50+ more years of living, who should be allowed to live'.
They had a panel of judges with flashy PhD's on morality. So, to people like us who say 'yeah go ahead kill the dam baby', there are a lot of educated people who will think otherwise.
