The Universe

So here is a fun little thought.
Imagine if you will, the Universe is infinite. In the human understanding that there is NO end to it. That it literally would go on forever if you were to continue in any direction for and unending period of time.
If we believe that that is true, then somewhere in that unending universe is another planet, EXACTLY like this one. Where everything is exactly the same EXCEPT the computer screen you reading this on... is purple. The whole course of time for that planet, the development of living things, inventions, toys, whatever. Happened exactly as it did on YOUR planet, but that dam screen... is purple.
Somewhere out there. There is a planet where everything happened exactly the same, except one little thing. This could be said for anything and everything, the advertisement on a web page was different, the shoes you wear, one less hair, one more hair.
If you believe in infinity, then you also believe that.
Awesome right? This thought blew my mind... Anyone disagree?

yea It should be in IB... or maybe random >.> and isnt that also called a parellel usnivers/world? i mean c'mon its like fricking SG-1 right?

Parallel universe would imply that the two don't exist in the same realm of reality. By coincidence the two planets could be right next to each other and you could travel to it.

either way... i already saw something like this in... um i think it was discovery channel...

Mmmmmm gotta love the Discovery Channel. Although I don't watch much TV....
However there is a planet out there somewhere exactly like this one... Except that I do watch a lot of TV
Theory Win! Yay! :3

I would take the yay more seriously if you avi wasnt frowning! -w-
and it cant be a "WIN!" since theorys are just that, ideas, not proven. Or do you mean your throey is understandable?

Hardly. The concept of infinity does not necessarily supersede the uniqueness.

The argument seems to be that if you do something forever then you have endless chances to see variations of existing phenomenons.

but there is no such thing as forever and its impossible for humans to really grasp the concept. i mean if something has a begining then there must be an ending
all this arguement is, is hypothetical

The argument seems to be that if you do something forever then you have endless chances to see variations of existing phenomenons.The universe is not an action; it's space. An infinite amount of space does not assume an infinite amount of possibilities. It could be completely empty. If you've ever even taken the time to look at the accepted theory of universe creation, it'd be quite obvious that the amount of matter in the universe is finite.
Also, is it not true that you could also have an infinite amount of matter AND infinite uniqueness?
This is why I say that the thread creator has made logical jump(s).

Insted of an infinate matter of space what it could be is that if you travel in one diriction long enough you will end up the same spot you started therefore making the universe infinate.

The universe may be infinite. The stuff in it is not. Therefore we will not see exact duplicates of our society here on earth.

@Tegumi
I'm glad you brought that up!
I am going to try to explain this the best I can... Infinity isn't something we can truly ever grasp.
If you believe in infinity, then you must except both sides. Why? Well as Tegumi said, from the accepted theory of universe creation. It's obvious there is infinite amount of matter inside the universe. So,
He is saying that the possibility that as the universe and matter are infinitely being created, it has never created the same thing. "Infinite Uniqueness"
But because it is infinite, then the possibility of it having created the exact same thing is also true. "Purple Screen World"
Again assuming that the universe and creation of matter are infinite.
I'm not saying that infinite uniqueness doesn't exist, I just posted the purple screen side of it. Better I should explain both sides of it (But that wouldn't make for much of a conversation eh?). Jumped the gun without explaing the matter side of it all.
@Ramsus
If that's what you believe than your right. Just word vs word there XD
@Zachwolf
If its infinite and I went in only one direction, please explain how i would end up back in the same spot. If you can, cause I can't XD (I tried... my brain hurts.) I suspect some fun theories coming up! :D
