Today a crazed madman ran out in the middle of the highway and fired what were hearing reports as a grenade launcher of some sorts. The death toll is in the hundreds. I agree that something needs to be done about people driving worth shit, but yearly renewals of licenses and harder tests wouldn't do anything but hurt people who don't deserve it. No one's going to be texting while taking a driving test. They're going to do everything exactly like they're supposed to, because they know they're being graded. But on their way home, they'll pull out their cell phones and put everyone in danger. Meanwhile, decent drivers will have to go through the hell that is the DMV more often, for no reason at all.
The real thing is to create more severe punishments. And, you know, actually make it illegal to use a cell phone while driving. Why it's not illegal everywhere, I'll never understand.
I was also pointing out a method to prevent all the people who just suck at driving. Not only the people who don't use their signals but, don't understand how to do use a 4 way stop and other rules of the road.
Harsher punishments are certainly the way to go. It not outlaw cellphone usage, at least make "hands free" mandatory.

You know what else I can't stand? People who use their blinkers at the last minute. They're halfway across the lane they're trying to merge into or they've started taking a turn and OOPS guess they better put it on. And really, it's not an "oops" issue at all most of the time but that they're too god damn lazy to bother with it until they absolutely must just so they can cover their ass if there's a policeman watching. Scumbags.

Scumbags.I totally agree. Last minute blinking is almost the same as no blinking at all - it surprises the other driver or the driver completely misses it and still surprises the other driver.

my eyelids are attached to my face and I use them constantly. I assume that's what you meant by "blinkers"

Ya I'm with ya on this. I recently moved from a big city to basically the middle of nowhere and NO ONE uses their blinkers here. Drives me insane. I've narrowly missed colliding with people who randomly slam on their brakes to turn on multiple occasions. And it really doesn't help when there are people that are a ton of people who are too old to be walking, let alone driving. sigh. I miss intelligent non-redneck drivers.

Lol my boss rammed someones car and drove off quick (I was in the Passenger laughin my ass off) who didn't use their blinkers. Thank god he was in the house or he woulda been screwed.

I use them, but not all the time. Sometimes I am just in the mood, and other times I try to be courteous while on the road. I do try to use it on regular streets, and in traffic roads. But on the highway it is pretty much hit or miss. If it isn't too busy and not a lot of cars around, then I don't really bother.

I use mine whenever cars are near me. One day though, I was so pissed, I was driving home at 4am and this friggin cop pulled me over because I didn't use my blinker to switch lanes. There was no other car on the road!!!, pissed me off. Wasted 30 minutes of my time.

Growing up and learning to drive in a big city, I was always around drivers that wouldn't use their blinkers. I've learned to anticipate what people are going to do before they do it.
Its not that hard to use blinkers. I almost always use them and I'm incredibly lazy. I get so annoyed when other people don't use them.
