Virgins being raped -- Still virgins?
0
I know it seems like a straight answer. A virgin getting raped is probably not a virgin anymore since she's had a guy inside her. But y'see, my personal opinion is that if a virgin is raped, she IS still a virgin. Sex is a very binding experience. You give your soul, your whole being over to the other person, and it's safe to say the girl getting raped didn't do any of that. Plus saying she's not a virgin implies she has "experience" when the truth of the matter is, it's not like that at all. I mean, what, a virgin gets gang-raped, for example. Are you gonna call her a whore afterwards? No! No sane person would dare suggest that!
There's rape, and there's making love. Completely different. I say if you've never made love, you're still a virgin.

Virgin; a person who has never had sexual intercourse
Rape; the unlawful compelling of a woman through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse.
These definitions have been brought to you in part by, Dictionary.com, the website for finding the definition of terms. So technically, no, she isn't a virgin anymore (she being any girl who was a virgin before rape).
Sure she didn't give herself up willingly, and it's unfortunate, but once your virginity is gone.. it's gone. I see what you mean though, in the first post. Obviously the girl isn't a whore if she's raped. That shouldn't be held against her.

Physically, no, the girl would not be a virgin, having had her hymen broken. whether or not she considers herself to be emotionally a virgin is really up to her.

Counter question:
A virgin has consensual sex with several different men. Are you gonna call her a whore afterwards?

Rape is in fact a rather extreme sexual experience, and therefor she's neither a physical nor a mental virgin anymore. That whole "giving over the body"-thingy would rather fit to the term "love", but has nothing to do with virginity.

The hymen thing is only one part of it. It can be broken through other means, like sports. Or a tampon, and I don't see anybody saying they lost it to a tampon, lol.
If a virgin has consensual sex with several different men, well, I wouldn't call her a whore but she's certainly not a virgin anymore. Though I'm not sure a virgin would participate in an orgy either.

I wouldn't call her a whore'Kay, just making sure. Some people have strange definitions of "whore" and "slut", and these people I don't wish to grace with a reply.
On topic:
Rape, whatever form it takes, is the ultimate power-trip because the perpetrator is violating the victim's sexual integrity and thus always constitutes a forced sexual act. Therefore, I would take the stance that a woman who has been raped is no longer a virgin. The question whether the hymen is intact is bloody worthless, both ways.
I would however also contend that this would be an absolute non-issue within a civilized society to begin with. Rape victims have enough things to worry about; the archaic and frankly worthless cult of "virginity" should be the least of their worries (as it should for anyone else).

I can't find a way to contort it to where the girl would still be a virgin. Sex against your will is still sex and she would no longer be a virgin. Consensus doesn't apply.

Totally agree, Gibbous. Alas, those in the Middle East don't think that way, but that's a separate discussion, I think.
As for me, I was molested for three years by a guy I thought I liked. He never raped me, though if he had I truly believe I would have killed myself. (I already had PTSD from a different event just months prior to it starting. Having him touch me, well...let's say that didn't help.) Being subjected to that doesn't mean I was skilled at making out when I got together with my current b/f. Being raped doesn't make a virgin "experienced" at sex (and I would NOT want that to be the only "experience" I have!).
It's just...I guess I just can't stand the fact that there are girls whose first time for them was rape. It's just an awful thought.

Any individual, male or female, young or old, virginal or experienced, is always utterly devastated after being subjected to sexual assault.
The only difference it makes is how much additional value they and their surroundings place on "the first time".

Whether it's a virgin they rape or not, I still think rapists -- and child molesters -- should all be shot. Or shipped off to a faraway island to cannibalize each other. Or whatever method is most painful.

yes, I think this is the right explanation for that... once penetrated, a girl can no longer be called a virgin... it's a fact... the girl you said just can't accept the fact that she was raped...

Rape or not. Once they have experienced intercourse, whether the right or wrong way, they are no longer a virgin. It's just that in one situation they lose it willingly while in the other they do not.

There was a reason the rapist raped the victim; no matter what it is the victim should get over it and move on. They'll no longer be a virgin, big deal.

The definition of "Virginity" can vary from person to person. Just because "Dictionary.com" says a certain definition, doesn't mean that it's the actual definition. That definition is a just a general consensus on the topic.
I argue that losing your "Virginity" may well be just that. You had sex, you're no longer a virgin. However, you guys are being too specific to the topic, it's not exactly right to just go by the definition of the general populace. Remember, to the general populace you're defined as; Well, who knows, but you're probably seen as somewhat freakish.
I for one believe that losing your "virginity" means, having sexual intercourse for the first time, but. There are plenty of people who agree that girls are still virgins, even if they lose their Hymen to a rape offender.

Their consensual virginity would still be in tact, but no, they are no longer virgins, (i only like raping virgins so every time i gotta find a new one!)

I discussed this on a forum a couple of years ago, and back then, there was a girl who said that she believed that if she was touched sexually at all, she would no longer be a "virgin." (In the symbolic sense, which was more important to her than the literal, physical sense.) If she even masturbated, she would no longer be a "virgin," because she'd be giving up her sexual innocence.
QUESTION - Is a girl who has sex with another girl still a virgin? If a strap-on or vibrator is used (meaning, vaginal penetration), does the girl lose her virginity? If there is no vaginal penetration, is the girl still a virgin?
What about with guys? Is a guy a virgin until he sticks his dick in a pussy? Does that mean that gay guys are virgins?

I'd say the criterion is penetration, no matter the orifice and the genders of the partners involved.

So, a girl could have sex with a thousand other girls, and as long as her vagina or anus were not penetrated, she would remain a virgin?
And a guy could lose his virginity if he got a blowjob?
