I think laws could be made based on existing laws for intelectual property. as both are more of a concept than something tangible.

There is a very old saying concerning the law, and while it may be old and clichéd - it is, none the less, valid: "Ignorance is no excuse."
You can't be too lazy to read the rules, or just sign off on them despite not agreeing in your rush to kill something and then come back and try to use that same laziness or apathy as a defense - just doesn't work that way.
