What do you think it's like... When we die?

There is most likely no afterlife.
Although I can't say it's absolutely imposable that there is one.

Astral Dimension/Plane.
I did a large bit of religious bouncing about when I was younger and afraid of disappearing into a black, empty void. Christianity (Too many rules.), Buddhism (Not at all a peaceable type), Hinduism (Also evil and power hungry), Greek (Then I remembered I'd have to deal with Zeus again...ugh), Viking (Still the number one afterlife, if you ask me), etc.
About two years back, though, I found a great deal of information that dealt with Psi. One of the first things I tried was Astral Projection, and it's the stage I'm currently at. When you die, your consciousness gets catapulted out of your body into the Astral Plane.
Not very exciting, and a noticeable lack of Milk and Honey, but better then nothing.

Rot in the ground. Consciousness is an effect of the brain so once that organ dies there's nothing to send to an afterlife. It's kind of bleak but it's not like any other afterlife provides more than comfort since you can't prepare for it or bring anything with you regardless of what you believe (unless you're a hardcore Ancient Egyptian or some other equally stupid minor religion).

Call it afterlife, heaven/hell, Valhalla or whatever ... I prefer to believe in something more after this party.
It was always simply too inconceivable for me that a life form so vastly superior to anything on this planet became such way through simple evolution and can be turned to a frigin' rat or monkey if you play with the DNA for a bit. I refuse to believe our feelings, passions and the ability to consciously adapt to any situation are simply the newest trick mother nature pulled off. There must be something (someone) more behind this and if there is - it's gotta live somewhere ain't it ?
edit: Seems I might have offended someone. Sorry - wasn't my intention. The word choice may be peculiar but this is my honest opinion ...

Due to my current psychotic, crazy-ass belief that our life is a 1st-person MMORPG, and that we are just a 3D characters controlled by 4D beings (Reference:Star Ocean 3), i'd say that it's just the classic "Game Over" screen when we die.
On a more "realistic" note, i think reincarnation is what's waiting us after we die. i'd love to be reincarnated as someone else, living a completely different life than my current life. As a president of US and A, for instance.
I figure FPOD would love to be reincarnated as a cewt, wittle penguin.

I somehow believe there is life after death, this world we live in is like something in the first stage, then after we die its the next stage where we leave our body and enter the next dimension we call the 'afterlife' though our form and way of living might be different.

When we die we only rot in the ground. But a real man shines his most when he dies, and he'll keep on living.. in the people's hearts. I want to die like a real man.

Who really cares what happens?
If there's nothing after we die, it's not like we can be sad. We won't exist. No feelings at all.
If there is an afterlife, we'll either remember life on Earth or not. If we don't remember life on Earth, then it's similar to there being nothing after we die; we won't miss our life on Earth because we won't know about it. If we do remember our life on Earth, then we'll probably either feel sad about leaving friends and family behind or sad that the afterlife doesn't have video games and TV.
In the very unlikely situation that the afterlife does have the stuff we love, like video games and anime and manga, then it makes our whole existence of Earth worthless. We could have just killed ourselves when we were five and gotten all the cool stuff without all the hassle of growing up with the many troubles around us.
The only idea of the afterlife that I like is reincarnation, because I'd get to live another life and enjoy all the cool things on Earth. But where would that journey end? Nirvana? Connecting with the cosmos? This will probably make me seem shallow, but I'll admit that I like playing video games and watching anime and reading manga and posting on forums. I like doing those things a lot more than I like sitting in a field of flowers, feeling the breeze on my cheek. That shit gets boring. With media, you can push yourself, think, realize, have fun, and more.
If there's an afterlife, when you go there, you can either be perfect or imperfect. If you're imperfect, then why is the afterlife so hallowed? And if it's perfect, then what's the point? The act of thinking and then knowing is the best thing in the world, and I wouldn't want to live in an afterlife where I can't do it.

You know those stories of people who've "died" but came back. Someone I met once told me that happened to him. He told me that he saw his whole life again and was reliving it. I'm just putting that out there, though it seems fishy, I kind of hope for the reincarnation bit. There are too many religions to believe, sometimes I feel like I should just believe in I think might happen. Though I haven't found what I think will happen just yet, one day in my life, I hopefully will. Before I die, of course.

Now use your imagination and imagine what happens to a brain in that process and especially with all the information stored in it, then hit it a few times with a baseball bat, put it in a blender together with people's wishes and beliefs and then bring the whole thing back to life, and there you have people which have seen god / a light / their families in heaven / re-lived their lives, and so on. Did you ever hear about a person who claimed to find himself in hell before being revived? Probably not, since nobody truly wishes for such a thing.

I would guess it's a sleep you never wake from aka. nothing.
As ShaggyJebus put it "Who really cares what happened?" You are dead, you aren't going to be able to do anything about it regardless of what happens afterwards.
On another note, my worst nightmare is an eternal wandering in nothingness after death...I'd imagine I'd 'die' from boredom before too long.

its hard to say, because there definitely are those experiences some people have where they feel a spiritual presence, or supernatural events occur, thus supporting the theory that some possibly end up in a spiritual limbo. i think that when we die, we coem back to life in another body, btu as someone who has a life that can be described as hell. or we come back but in a good life that can be described as heavenly. its hard to tell. i think there is a place for us all when we pass, but we wont know for sure unless we die ourselves, whats waiting on the other end, if there even is one. which is why i believe you only have one life, so do everything now, because you wont know for sure if theres soemthing for you to do when you die.

That's up there with "the girl I like is [insert religion here] so I'm going to be that" as stupid reasons to be religious.

Gentlemen! I present to you . . . Pascal's Wager!
If God doesn't exist, then believing in and obeying Him won't hurt anything.
If God does exist, believing in and obeying Him will get you to Heaven.
If God does exist, not believing in and obeying Him will damn you to Hell.
Therefore, it is better to believe in and obey God.
I wish I was making this up.
