Yes. To those who face racism in their daily lives I'm sure a treatment to correct themselves would be...
Ah shucks I wanted to get negative reputation for this reply but I'll pass.
There are whites out there who I'm sure would like to be whiter if not just for the beauty aspect of it
[size=10]which I think is the point of this treatment, yes? I didn't get a good look at the website before typing this.[/h]

I really don't care but yes I do find it racist. Why don't they just say "make your face smoother" or something instead of "more white" nya~

The color of ones skin means nothing except to a racist and who really cares about what they say anyways?
If Asian women want to look whiter in order to distance themselves from the tanned "working class" then let them. Their bodies, their decision is how I see it.

I too see things this way when it comes to skin color!

Yes. To asians, pale skin is considered desirable, much in the way caucasians today like tanned skin, or blondes.
From personal experience: my skin is so dark I can pass for being black were in not for my facial features. In my childhood and early adulthood, I was made fun of because of it. Even among adults, a person with dark skin "looks dirty", a negative trait unless you also happen to have a goddamn good body and gorgeous face to go with it.
The ternd is not limited to asia. Look at any mexican drama. Now compare your mexican actor/actress to your average mexican. They will likely be several shades paler.
Note that wanting white skin =/= wanting to be caucasian.

I'm all for freedom when it comes to some matters like that, but would you really let someone with such low self-esteem and high self-hatred do what they want to themselves. I would say they should get some help.
On the issue at hand, "white" is just another marketing tool used by capitalist a-holes to further divide the masses so they can maximize profits.

I agree with FPOD, it has nothing to do with racism. The upper class were pale skinned due to the lack of hard labor out in the sun. It has been that way for decades now in Asia. In U.S. and Europe they find tan skin exotic.

They are not harming themselves or the people around themselves by wanting to be pale. If that requires help then people who sunbathe also need assistance.
As for capitalist-a-holes. There was a demand and they came to supply that demand. It's how the system works. I see nothing sinister in the companies actions but, I personally find it futile to alter ones skin color for pure ascetics. Skin color is just a measure of your U.V. dosage.
A.D.D. Moment: When you think about it in those terms, racism is even funnier. "You get more sun than I do. Therefore I will hate you for such".

Its a girl's stuff...
Usually the chinese, its quite a trend here for "whiteness" as it is more attractive, there is a chinese saying here which means "1 white covers 3 uglyness". Woman has spent tons of cash on looking good and this is one of them, nothing to do with racist. As being a chinese, just as what fatman said, having a black skin somehow makes you look dirty and usually, not attractive, to the same race that is. Honestly in every chinese household here, whitening products is almost a MUST...and the even the guys are starting to use it.

Sunbathing is healthy if done properly (Vitamin D). There is no benefit to whitening other than the aesthetic. For those that sunbathe to excess, I also believe they should get some sort of counseling- there's plenty of celebrities well know for this addiction.
I see it as exploitation. The very same people you see as filling a need wouldn't skip a beat to sell a rifle to an assassin if they could make a sizable profit(obvious hyperbole to express my hatred towards capitalist).
p.s. I'm not a fan of beauty products in general, but this issure was given the ol' bump with race involved.

This isn't about race at all. It's aestheticism, plain and simple.
People often want what they don't have. People with straight hair want curly hair, and people with curly hair want straight hair. People with pale skin want darker skin, and people with dark skin want paler skin. Nothing new, and nothing radical.

I wasnt really thinking about asian women when I wrote that. It was more about racism and tanned/black people who want to be white. Specifically on this side of the big lake.

This is old, this has been going on for a long time in with asian's. They even have eye treatments done to make their eyes more oval, more western.
It's simply just the grass is always greener on the other side. Due to social norms of what's 'beautiful' women like to try to reach that level where they're also considered beautiful. White skin goes further back than just the 'they want to look like westerns'

Though that's simply powder.
They go through so much trouble to avoid sunlight to prevent damaging their skin (where westerns seem to enjoy making their skin into leather and getting skin cancer now) and it's considered beautiful with the whitest and clearest complexion.
It goes back to when it showed a woman had wealth or had higher education because they didn't need to do physical labor and get sun burnt.
Anyone who says it has to do with racism is probably the racist here.

Well if white is desirable in Asia, guess there's no chance in finding me some stylish Japanese waifu. Damn you, fashion trends!

I find it odd that they would want to look white. But I also find it odd that black people want to look white to, or white people want to look tan/dark. Everyone wants something they don't have. In today's society its natural to want what you don't have. Hell since the beginning of time man has hungered for the things he does not have, like a cure for death, or a means of escaping from problems. We all want something, but what happens when we get it? Then where do you go from there?

Most do it for sheer aesthetics in the same manner as the Asians who wish to look more pale. There isn't a different in that regard and there is no need for counseling.
As Ziggy has pointed out, this isn't a new trend in the east. Asians find white skin attractive nothing more, nothing less. I don't see how giving something to somebody who wants it in exchange for something you want counts as exploitation in the definition you were using (i.e. the "selfish utilization").
I see it as exploitation. The very same people you see as filling a need wouldn't skip a beat to sell a rifle to an assassin if they could make a sizable profit(obvious hyperbole to express my hatred towards capitalist).
If you wish to express your hatred for capitalism go make a thread for it. As trying to debate this here will derail the thread. If you do, then your position best be fortified (think The Persian army clashing with the Spartans). Do me a favor though, state which economic model you think is the best and detail why you think so. I prefer to not take shots in the dark.

I'm not a fan either but, my personal feelings remain separate. Their actions neither pick my pocket nor break my leg. At least we agree on our dislike of beauty products.
