Why are most people ignorant? *personal*

I've been made fun of for liking Anime and Manga. I can take getting made fun to a point. I also like Asian girls. I don't know why I just do. People seem to think that I like Asian girls because of Anime and Manga. They couldn't be farther from the truth. Most Anime Characters don't even look like they're asian. Most people say I'm in denial, but I'm not. People who do this always try to prove themselves right. They seem to know everything about my situation yet they truly don't.

It's a compilation of Ignorance and Teasing that I hate about the world. I love Asian girls and I love Anime and Manga. To me they're totally separate but the world and the people around me tries to say there the same.

That's just it--people are ignorant. Just accept it and ignore them like I do.

i couldnt tell you specifically york but you basically got it on the nose; people either dont know the truth due to lack of information or lack of interest, and its much easier to assume... see 'stereotypes' if you will. its human nature to find peace in understanding, even if what we believe is true couldnt be further from it.

Well, I got the same treatment in High School. they should know that biases and stereotypes assuming are a factor that breaks the world apart into classes, clans etc,etc,. To counter that, you can just ignore them, or you can just have an asian girlfriend and show them that you're not affected by anime and manga. :D

I sympathize with you York. I love anime (manga not so much) and I turn to much when a cute Asian(Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Japanese) girl walks by.
I used to get teased in middle school but, once I reached high school everyone was too busy being stoned to make fun on anyone. Seriously, I'm sure 90% of my school has some sort of pot connections.

Anyways, you just gotta take it. They are stupid and to quote Ron White "You can't fix stupid".

Don't mind what's coming out of their mouths.

York, if most people weren't idiots, how could we be better than them? It's really a hidden blessing if you think about it.

Hah. Why would people tease you about it? You'd have to tell them about your likes and dislikes for them to know.

Don't worry about it really. Whoever they are, they don't get anything. And because of that, they are not worth worrying about. Yes, their comments get under your skin.

But remember, they could be saying far more insulting things, beating you up and even as far as rape if there were some real nasties in the group. Think of this as a mental challenge that you must overcome each day. Training for the backstabbing nature of some offices.

In my case, those backstabs come from workmates hitting me with their guns in FEAR on one of our occasional LAN@Work times. I'm lucky to not get that office politics.

Hi, York! All I have to say is: Nothing to it, man. Those guys just haven't been caught up by the cultural wave that is anime. Wait until they've experienced the creative genius behind all of it, THEN ask them if they like anime now.

I'm Asian, and I personally feel that our chicks are HOT, so I'm with you on that point, York.

At times I'm a total idiot and I'm ignorant. Ignorance is not bliss it's a hell hole when I catch myself being it. Am I a hypocrite? That makes me stupid. How can I be better than them I can't fix myself?

It's a combination of association and stereotyping. They're protective measures left over from our past and you do it to.

Most people are ignorant because it's tons easier to be ignorant than to be informed and intelligent. That's pretty much it I think.

I feel as you do, about anime and Asian girls... It does frustrate me that people who know about my love for both assume they are related but I can't help think back to when I did start to have a thing for Asian girls... It was around the time i started really getting into anime. So maybe there is some truth in it for me, but what do I care? I like Asian girls and anime, and i don't care what anyone thinks.

theres nothing to fix. it isnt intentional and it certainly isnt motivated, its really nothing more then the association of collected information and the relevance they have to one another. with your specified example, brain makes connections of anime to the culture it belongs... people think your like of the two things are for somewhat of the same purpose. thats an oversimplified idea of things but to put it in short; everyone does it. your never going to know the 5 w's of everyones preferences so you and your brain are gonna have to fill in alot of the picture with yourself. its the only negative thing about diversity: theres too much of it to go around.
