York, if most people weren't idiots, how could we be better than them? It's really a hidden blessing if you think about it.At times I'm a total idiot and I'm ignorant. Ignorance is not bliss it's a hell hole when I catch myself being it. Am I a hypocrite? That makes me stupid. How can I be better than them I can't fix myself?
The mere fact that you realize that you're an idiot makes you a hell of a lot smarter than them.

I've been made fun of for liking Anime and Manga. I can take getting made fun to a point. I also like Asian girls. I don't know why I just do. People seem to think that I like Asian girls because of Anime and Manga. They couldn't be farther from the truth. Most Anime Characters don't even look like they're asian. Most people say I'm in denial, but I'm not. People who do this always try to prove themselves right. They seem to know everything about my situation yet they truly don't. It's a compilation of Ignorance and Teasing that I hate about the world. I love Asian girls and I love Anime and Manga. To me they're totally separate but the world and the people around me tries to say there the same.
Asian women can be hot, people who make fun of you for that should have the sexual orientation questioned, you should ignore them or (if they are your friends) make fun of them for not liking women (if they are guys, if they are girls tell them to get in the kitchen before you give them a reason to get in the kitchen, this will change the subject swiftly and is usually kind of funny) there is nothing wrong with liking things from japan or any other country for that matter, to be truly American you need to embrace the cultures of the rest of the world since they all like to congregate here (oh yeah and call them unAmerican for being so ignorant of culture, sure that's probably a lie but, who cares, it's not like they are smart enough to back themselves up.) You can even ask them if they watched transformers when they were young, since it was originally Japanese, or if they play video games now (since most of those are developed overseas).
You can casually poke holes in most of these people if you know anything about their personal lives, if not then you can probably poke holes in them anyway since they feel the need to impose their ideals on you. Well, ok, I can poke holes in these people, I'm not sure on how good you social-fu is, social-fu is the ability to defend yourself from social screw ups or when someone wants to make fun of you, you have the ability to turn it around upon them. I am pretty good at handling normal people but I am somewhat at a loss when it comes to handling my friends at my local hangout, since they are all intellectuals and basically taught me everything I know about how to handle any given social situation.

That's just it--people are ignorant. Just accept it and ignore them like I do.Exactly, that's one of the human natures that we all possess

In my opinion, everyone is born ignorant. As a newborn, you analyze your surrounding and start learning. As a kid, you start to communicate with the people around you and the logic starts to kick in. As a teenager, you are faced with other ways of thinking from different people and your personality starts to take shape. Some learn faster, others have a bit takes a bit more time and a big majority doesn't learn from their past mistakes.
After that, clans, gangs and circle of friends are created with somewhat the same values in life. When facing something new, they either have the choice of learning what it is or completely ignore it. People have their own choices to do anyway. It was up to them to learn from what was strange to them and start asking questions about why you like about animes and asian girls. But instead of constructing some useful questions and learning something new, alot of people decides to make fun of things that they don't really understand because they don't take the time to know what it is. These kinds of people are from the third group that I call: The I know it all.
My advices? Ignore them and try to find a better circles of friends or environment, after all you won't be able to advance with people that don't see as far as their own nose.

Most people are ignorant just because they were born that way(things such as parental influences, young habits, etc.)
Everyone really is ignorant in my opinion, but your degree of ignorance counts on how much you want to know to fix what misconceptions you may possess.

Becoming a better person isn't just learning from your mistakes it's learning from others as well. That's why I love history and art.

We are all ignorant to some degree, but it's what we choose to ignore that makes the difference. Truth be told, it enfuriates me that being ignorant is hip, whereas having a vast knowledge in some fields is considered uncool. I often blame the media and the weak willed. The whole ignorance is bliss thing works for some, and it basically means you're better off not knowing some things.
Even Sherlock Holmes was clueless in some aspects(like not knowing the earth was somewhat sphere-shaped) Ignorance and unawareness are usually treated as the same, although I find both circumstancially excusable.
Now, upon reading the original post, I have to say that I can't relate to your situation. But arguing over preferences is frequently useless. In this case, it appears to be more of an exclusion case; by cataloguing you, they can simply deem you inferior with prejudices.
Why the fuck am I still posting here anyway? I need new videogames or something.
