That's a pretty up your ass thing to say. GIs aren't soldiers of fortune, you know. We get paid at all times and only get extra hazrd pay and a complete tax neglect on that pay while in a war-zone.
We don't sit on our asses and hope for the next big conflict for a few extra dollars, especially when its at the cost of your best friends.

There is no such thing as real peace. People are biologically wired to compete and to try to be best. This is true for basically everything we do, which is why we can never have true peace because someone always want what the other one has.

World peace will never, ever happen. Too many of us love conflict too much, and I assure you we will see an apocalypse before everybody starts being all civil-like to each other. And yeah, part of it is instinct, while others simply like giving others a hard time, which in turn makes those people bitter and mean as well. It's a vicious cycle. Plus violence is funny.well said

Okay, think of it like this:
You have all of the people in the world, right? Well, they all have their own beliefs and opinions.
Now, 80% of those people will fercely protect their beliefs and opinions.
60% of those people have access to weapons, some dangerous, some not so much.
Now take 20 or 15% of that aforementioned 80%, they are in a high seat of power or can manipulate those in high seats of power.
Now, I'm not saying that those in a high seat of power make all of the war (they might help, though). It's just that, most of the people in the world are cyncical, self-centered, Stereotypical, and whatnot.
But Homo-Sapiens as a race, have instincts that make them dislike and sometimes shun others that don't agree with them. Some more extreme ones would go so far as hurt or even kill the other.
People won't have even a semblence of peace unless we can get over our differences. Peace isn't truely impossible, it's just that most people don't try.

Just what i think on this matter:
Well if we're talking about pure peace where is no violence then it's probably only a communistic possibility since everyone would feel the same but then again pure communism can't exist since everyone lives different lives(and thus it's impossible for everyone to feel great ALWAYS(since shit happens in life >.<)).
Thus peace is impossible ;(

In short peace is impossible.
There are a lot of reasons why peace can't be attained.
I''ll cite some examples:
Note: it applies only to some and not all
- people tend to get angry easily
- people are egotistical
- each person has a natural enemy, nobody doesn't have one; to those who doesn't, they just still haven't found them yet.
- people CAN become selfish, greedy, and violent
- people have narrow minds
If peace does exist, when and where does God enter to people's lives?

I hate the idea of peace. Not because I'm pro-conflict or anything, but because there will always be people looking to exploit others.
And if we give in to the notion of peace and try to establish it we're only leaving ourselves unguarded. It would only take one person to decide they want more than everyone else, and decide that force is the best tool in which to acquire it.

There's peace in the world just never lasting peace, to get peace, there's two ways for me: bond through similar aspects and through domination neither i know works for the long run.

man theres so much hateing out in the worlddo you think theres a thing as world peace or are we doomed of a future of violence and hate?
and why are people mean guess it's just instinct or something.
IDK what you think?
[size=10]Anger is just another emotion. A way of venting when stressed or overrun.
The only way world peace will ever happen is when our race is extinct. Fucking humans.[/h]

"A world where no one gets hurt?
Ridiculous. No world can preserve happiness without harming anyone.
Humans cannot live without sacrifices. Peace is a myth created by those who cower in fear of the dark.
You lowlife. Your ideal is just an excuse to cover up your ugliness."
Hmm...I think this will do...

War happens for one of two reasons
Resources: Money,Land,iron,oil,etc.
Ideology: Religion, Nationalism, Racism.
Once these are successfully removed from ever person on the planet and abundant resources are found so there is never a conflict over anything. Then you would have to dissolve all national borders, identities and minds of the individual then you will achieve world peace.
As for the soldier, don't hate the guy following orders, he doesn't really get a choice in the matter. Hate the man giving him orders.

In some places, if you disobey a commanding officer, you can be killed. And even if the US, if you disobey, you can get dishonorably discharged, which I've heard will effectively ruin the rest of your life in the US.

Even if you innocently get success it's sadness to some, like if one become champion on a sport, the other teams are failures.
