(Why) do Asian women prefer femine over masculine guys?

Well I can't really speak for all girls since I'm a guy but I can speak for all Filipino girls..... Most of the girls here prefer men who are sensitive, more kind and hardworking unlike the Americans or any other chauvinistic country (no offense to Americans) and that here in the Philippines it doesn't matter if your a nerd or a hentai freak as long as your kind and loving girls would love you haha =D

First of all i believe you are generalizing all female women that they prefer masculine and second like some poster above me said its all preference. I would in a heart beat( if going by looks) go for a guy who looked a bit feminine than a guy who would be a more masculine man. Just saying.

Anyway, For me, I actually don't mind either. Unless he looks like a super body builder. To much can be bad.
If I could decide based on his looks. I would go for a more feminine male. They tend to age better. Unless you get an athletic one (track, soccer, etc).
I usually try not to judge on looks. I want a guy who will rp a lot.
That's my own opinion.
For the general. I think it's because the feminine guys have been popularized by media. A lot of shows that have brain washed the younger generation.
P.S. I didn't see a lot of the comments cuz they didn't show up. -.-

I like my hunks lean. But I dunno. Maybe Asian males just have less angular faces in general?

You're generalizing Asian women, Tachyon! There are plenty of Caucasian women who probably prefer feminine men over masculine men. This will be my only contribution to the thread due to the fact the question being presented is based on a generalization.
1
Overgeneralizing things. I know many Asian girls who love masculine guys. I also know many who love just tall guys in general. Each PERSON has their preferences, not each race. Sure, there are some popular guys who have a beautiful face but its not like they dont have any muscles or anything. You either watch too much anime or manga, or you look at the Japanese males in general (they do tend to be more feminine).

While I agree there's room to say there's a slight generalization there still is a obvious trend in the Asian culture at least determined by the amount of male heros in manga, anime, as well as asian boy bands, pop stars, and asian actors. I don't have stats and polls to make this more than a simple theory but I think if you notice how here in the USA even (at least) many women are attracted to "pretty boys" by droves. I think first that this happens because stylish clothes, handsome faces are intantly noticable from a distance and heavily masculine men aren't ALWAYS as noticable.
Second maybe it has to do with reminding the asian women of their youthful days in school or teenage girls can relate to it better.
Lastly, I do know that a national concern in Japan at least is that men seem to be losing their sex drive, this could result in a lot of men being less prone to be "masculine" for the sake of attracting women so perhaps in Japan at least the women there simply don't have so much other masculine examples to compare. Food for thought.

Instead of Asian Women, you should have just referred to Japanese women cause only Japanese women prefer feminine men. Or chicks that dig J-rock and those tranny looking bands. :P

Actually I would have to disagree with your conclusion (I know your research is not done yet).
Having lived in Hong Kong for ~5 months now, and having mostly girl friends, I can tell you that the girls complain plenty about the fact that the guys not only look to feminine, but also so not make any effort to change this.
(in fact many young hong kong guys looks like my mental picture of a gay guy, carrying purses and just dressing to feminine.)

I'm really not sure if this is an Asian thing, rather than an individual thing. I know plenty of women, from plenty of different ethnic backgrounds, who just have a preference for prettier, or more feminine men. It's basically the same reasoning behind why anybody has any preference for anything ~ personal choice.

I don't know why but it pisses me the HELL OFF!!!!!! I'm not femine in the littlest bit. Not that I have a huge thing for asian girls in the first place but I wouldn't mind one coming my way.

i love asian women! why they not like masculine faces?!Im not ugly but I dont think that Im a very handsome guy, but what if you have a nice body?! or its the same if its not a feminine face?! or maybe your personality?...

I don't think feminine guys as much as balanced between feminine and masculine. Too masculine is kinda out of balance for East Asian cultures, we aren't really impressed with muscles mass and the sort as much as westerners. Excuse me, friend. I believe Bruce Lee,
Spoiler:
Toshiro Mifune,
Spoiler:
and Antonio Inoki
Spoiler:
Would all like words with you.

NOTE: man that has high in testosterone levels will exhibit manly features such as muscle mass, toned body, chiseled jaw, and pronounced eyebrow ridges. These features indicate a male with high testosterone. High testosterone means the man is healthy and will produce good offspring.
New research suggests women from healthier countries prefer feminine men whilst those in deathtrap nations incline towards manly men.
University of Aberdeen researchers studied some 4,500 heterosexual women from 30 countries, aged 16-40.
The women were presented with 20 pairs of male faces; each pair consisted of the same face, but subtly altered to look slightly more “masculine” in one picture, and slightly more feminine in another, by modifying dimorphic facial traits such as brow or jaw line.
Their preferences were then compared to the health care statistics of their respective countries.
Researchers say they found a pronounced correlation between levels of healthcare and a preference for effete men, with a nation considered to have the “best” healthcare, Sweden, having 68% of its women prefer men with more feminine faces.
In the US, 48% of women preferred masculine men. Japan did not feature in the results, not that anyone doubts the inclination of its womenfolk towards sissy men.
Meanwhile, in Brazil, with the worst healthcare on offer in the sample, only 45% of the women preferred feminine men.
One researcher explains her interpretation of the results:
“The results suggests that as health care improves, more masculine men fall out of favour.
That could be why feminine looking movie stars like Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are popular now compared with the likes of Clark Gable and Sean Connery in the past.”
She touts healthcare and not culture as a key determinant of what is considered attractive in a given nation:
“We found that women from countries with poorer health, which have higher mortality and increased incidence of communicable disease, were more attracted to masculine faces than women living in countries with better health.
People used to think beauty was arbitrary and that different cultures have different preferences.
However our research shows that preferences may instead be explained by responses to different environmental factors like a low level of health in the population.”
Such a study immediately falls foul of the “correlation does not equal causation” statistical mantra so often left out of science reporting, but the researchers aren’t having any of it:
“These new findings really do seem to show that preferences for different types of men in different parts of the world are linked to cross-cultural differences in health.
The effect remained even when we controlled for lots of other factors, such as cross-cultural differences in wealth.
Women often think of high-testosterone types as uncooperative, unsympathetic, philandering, aggressive and disinterested in parenting. In fact, there is evidence that they really do have more relationship problems than other men.

I'm an american female, but here is my thought on guys.
When I was in high school I didn't particularly care about masculinity in guys. In fact it was a bit of a turn off for me. As I've gotten older and now that I"m in college that opinion has definitely changed. I don't like super muscular guys, but I have found my sexual attraction towards masculine guys with broader shoulders, more square jaws, pronounced brow ridges spike. I think this is partially because while in high school all those guys with those characteristics that I encountered where douche bags. The cool guys were more lanky and a bit effeminate. Now that I'm in college I've met a lot more cool guys who are masculine. Plus when I was younger I was determined to be as independent as possible. I didn't need a guy to protect me (still don't). I guess now I get that its good to have someone who can hold their own and being taken care of can be a good thing too.

Hello, I notice on forums and from my friends in highschool, young girls really love feminine guys. Hell even the young population does in America (justine beiber, jonas brothers)
I'm 20 now and as a Caucasian women I have always liked 'pretty boys'. Of course an overly androgynous personality can be a turn off, but I like a man who takes care of himself.
It is just what certain women find physically attractive, like how a man might prefer small breasts over big ones.
Since you want an explanation for Asian women, I can only think maybe they are use to guys who dress that way from their country? I love Asian men because of their pretty boy style (not all of course are like this though).
I'm decently sure places like Korea have cosmetic products for men not only women. Like skin care and all that. It seems more common for those men to use cosmetic products then America's men. Besides some Asian men barley have any body hair, so overall I would say Asian women like it because it is the trend? ^_^ Most adult Asian females I know like masculine men by the way.. haha
