Why do we like the Anime Style [9/24 Edit]
0
I guess that because anime characters usually contain all the aspects that would make up a perfect human or someone you would be attracted to. This is why there are so many types of girls in a harem anime. The animations are also more fluid and they portray a lot of emotion compared to western animations. There is usually an interesting story, detailed animations, and it's something unique.
After watch Gundam for the first time I thought that it would be awesome if those robots were real so I continued to search for more to satisfy my appetite for this new thing we called anime. I gradually grew to relate the Japanese animations to a good experience. They just spend more time in the overall production quality of anime which is why I like to style more. They have everything from plot, background, music, and visual appeal. In general, it's just better.
Also, I would not watch Clannad if it were drawn like Spongebob. Spongebob cannot display the same kind of emotions and it would just look stupid.

So ultimately, why do we like the Anime Style?Probably because subconsciously, we get tired of watching the same 3D shit all day (real life). So a change in perspective can be found appealing to those who get bored with how real life looks.

Anime style brings forth a whole new level of cartoons. It upgraded so badly that now I no longer call them cartoons. [cause by doing so I'm equalizing anime with crap cartoons]. I know acknowledge them as anime. It is so because it shows us reality in the form of fantasy. It makes us think and probably make it more easier for us to fathom things that are inexplainable in the world. The way that these anime's convey their message is way different than normal cartoons.
I have to say there is a huge difference.

I actually don't watch anime at all, but I like hentai more then real porn. I guess i'm just weird.I guess that means everyone on this site is weird.
Haha, I don't mean people who prefer hentai over real porn are weird but most people who enjoy hentai also watch anime and know all the names of characters that hentai is made out of, while I don't know anybody but Naruto :P

Anime style tends to have a general plot whereas American cartoons tends to have a general setup and have a new theme every episode. As somebody said above, you can express more fantasy ideas where if in 3D, it'd be kinda stupid and nobody would watch it. (I cannot imagine a lot of anime that would work in America if it were made live action)
Dun forget that most anime watchers are in their raging hormone stages or biological prime and we often look for "Eye Candy". Anime provides us with detailed almost beyond perfect characters for us to satisfy our urges.
Plot + Fantasy + Attention to Detail = Good stuff
and we all like good stuff,
But I still love my Simpsons
Its wittiness cannot be matched by any anime
I've also noticed American TV (with the exception of Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park) lack shows aimed specifically for the Teen age group (13-20) where anime has x000 shows that solves that

I like anime cause it's not weird.
For example, when i saw a girl (in real) with pink hair or blue hair or green hair, i just feel it doesn't fit. It's looks fake to me.
But when a girl in anime wears that hair colour, it doesn't bothered me at all.
About western cartoon, its not bad. But i just dont really like it either.
If Clannad or even Naruto were drawn like spongebob i think i will pass. >__<

Mostly it's because the characters are presented in a way that are appealing and can be attractive. In that way, anime grabs you into the story easier. And that's because anime does something that cartoons do not. Present a mature story that is articulate and mindboggling. The only thing I remember that can compare to mature animes is the Batman: The Animated Series. In this sense, western comics are mature if you read Mr. Moore's stuff.

I really don't care how anime (or pretty much anything I watch or play) looks. Evangelion or Berserk could be done with stick figures and I wouldn't care as long as they have the awesome stories that attracted me to those works in the first place.
Also, if an anime looks pretty but doesn't have a coherent story, I'm expecting a lot of sex to make up for that.

Mainly because I prefer the animation and because it's often more maturely oriented, characters have more personality and are more freshened out and the plot is often more deeper and heavier. (Yet often slower at times.)
Cowboy Bebop was mostly my drive (and still a reason) why I watch and like anime.

Art!!
Animes are drawn and animated based to appeal and attract people i guess.
But i normally do not watch random crap anime that comes out every season.
So i guess the plot and story of an anime also affects the attraction.

Like wat earlier post say:America dun take animation seriously enough.
Japanese on the other way:ANIME IS OUR GLOBAL INDUSTRY!
take example:no offense to those in america, but sometime i think they just simply pick a seiyuu for a animation or anime and just dubbed without looking at the characteristic(older or younger voice to a character is not logic)
In japan, even a side character also they went through a lot of audition and seriously damm strict even it is a Side-character.
And normally anime character are drawn to be perfect!

I can't believe I missed this thread. Here's my reasons why we like the anime style. (Be prepared for a long wall of text!)
This was taken from a previous forum that I used to hang out until it went under, but it more or less sums up my various likes for anime.
edit: Note, what's in the spoiler are my own words that used to be in another forum... dunno if that went through or not.

Anime has the in-depth story that makes it enjoyable. Plus the artwork and the animation makes it better. With American cartoons, it just seems too lax and too easy to create. Making it seem like they don't really care about the quality being put in. Of course some of it is done on purpose but most American cartoons are like that now which leaves less of an impression on me.

Japanese art beautifies an object yet keeping a bit of realism, like we can see in ancient japanese art. Today, besides using more brighter colors and having irregularly large eyes, anime characters features humans. Example, I like Kimba the White Lion, but hates Transformers animated. Reason? Kimba is cute but the structure of the character is basically based to the real thing, while all characters in Transformers Animated vaguely looks human (even the girl looks like an oblong with limbs)
Ancient eroge drawings were used to decorate bedrooms to heighten the sexual arousal of men. The same can be said with porn and hentai. But imagine a naked olive oyl poster in your room to fap on. Ewww...
(sorry if any of the things I mentioned offended any of you in any way. I didn't mean it in any personal manner.)

I didn't want to make another thread about this because I thought it would just take up space and since this thread came back, I'd like to present another question. I also put this in the opening post so it's there if you need to see it without searching for it.
Another question that popped in my head. Okay, not a question but a statement. What do you think about it?
Guitar is to Bass as [American Hero Comics/art style in the 50's to 70's] is to Anime.

for me it seems that i was attracted to anime at a younger age do to the fact that Anime had a storyline!
Normal western cartoons normally don't have one. you could just watch one ep, than pick back up on the show a month later and still not have missed any major changes to the show...and that annoyed me.
i love the fact that with Anime characters i was able to both relate and not relate to there feelings and situations as the stories had gone on. i knew the Anime girl was sad because she cried, and since thats human related i could easily relate!
With western cartoons i was never never able to relate. even if the character was suppose to be sad the things he did made him seem funny (like stick his tail in a blender). WTF!!
also i thought western cartoon art-style was shitty...i could draw Western bubbles in 20seconds, to draw Anime bubbles took longer and it made me appreciate all the hard work that goes into making an entire anime show.
