It's simple,
As humans, we are a highly social species. Ever wonder why we are one of the few species that has facial expressions? Emotions play a huge part in human comunication.
With that said, humans pick up on anything that conveys emotion, (Be it facial expressions, words, music, or otherwise) and are directly influenced by it.

In my opinion music is one of the most important parts of humanity.
Sure, we aren't the only ones who can make music, but we are the only ones who can make so many different kinds of music.

music is noise and the absence of noise to say its a beat or sound is wrong simply having quiet will build tension or leave an impression I forget the name of the song but its a 3 minute plus song of nothing. this is what makes music special its beauty comes from its creator and its interpreter

Music is what makes the world go round to this very day.
It brings history, science, math and art in one, and it just makes people in a good state of an certain level in society.
Ye Music matters.

Without music, shit is boring.
Like math class for example. Without music it sucks, but pop in some skullcandy's, and all of the sudden MATH IS A BLAST!

I remember reading this thread a while back when it was fresh, really liked the original post. I still can't give an intelligible answer for what constitutes good or bad music. I would probably pull a Socrates and say it has some kind of form or alignment with the soul. In order to answer this "good" or "bad" music question, you have to define what pleasure is first, I think. An objective form for pleasure that can be used as a standard for music. I don't know that there is one.

I used to do this all the time in middle school and high school.
