your opinion on graffiti artists?

If it is something I like I consider it art, if its something that I dont like then its stupid little pricks being stupid little pricks.

There is a clear difference between being productive and counter-productive. Spraying randomly, and vandalizing buildings isn't going to earn said "artists" any respect from me, but rather disdain at their arrogant presumption that the world is their playground.
Thad said, people who actually treat it as a "new age" art form do get my respect. I don't really have a clear opinion on the art itself, but I think artists can be defined as clear cut as that, at least in my eyes.

Most of you(I include myself) have already caused the loss of much more money than any graffiti artist could ever cause in damages.
If the art is nice and clean, I think it's okay to keep up. If it's gang-related or something vulgar/mature, it should be removed.

Like I said in my first post, crappy tags just suck, but there are some wicked street-artists out there. For you who just discard it as trash, you should check out this guy's art. Those samples you posted are some of banksy's weakest deeds. His early, more subversive and intelligent stuff was much better.
But even so, one Banksy doesn't vindicate the entire genre of graffiti, and the outright deluge of stencil graffiti that followed in his wake is just annoying as the other lame shit abounding everywhere.
Sorry, it's still just trash to me.
P.S.:

Its an expression of art in my opinion but they need to Tag pieces of paper instead of buildings cause they just make the company or owner pay to have it cleaned up which is wrong.

I like Graffiti when its done classily if not its just shit and a nuisance.
I dont think that Graffiti artists should put their work on too high a pedistal though. Granted its better than most modern art "masterpieces" but its still no Picasso. (Get over it, Your arts just a bit pleasant to look at... THATS IT)

I agree that graffiti can be artistic and can carry a message, but thats what a canvas/the interwebs is for. If you have something you want to express and your a talented artist, by all means express it through said artwork, just do it on your own property.
I wouldnt mind it so much if I wasnt the one forking the bill to clean it up off public property, mostly against it for this reason. Plus I wouldnt appreciate someone jumping my fence and writing their name on one of my walls. If you want to draw on it, pay me for rental or buy the wall off me.

There are relatively 2 kinds of Graffiti artists.
1. Those that are commissioned to do art (the really nice, big entire wall taking ones).
2. Those who go out at night and spray their names and stenciled logos on walls.
Out of the two, I respect the first one. They make the cities more vibrant and colorful.
The second one just makes the cities look uglier and uncivilized.

Where I'm from, we call the first type of art "urban murals".

I agree with this one, our city actually has a team of artists that are commissioned to go out and put real art over the stupid shit other people spray under bridges and such.

Curious and Wondering
I have reservations for and against most graffiti artists. On the grounds of what and where... somewhat like a set of sieves for me.
What they're doing is the first I look at - if it's a mural or a nice work that looks decent and civilized, it passes. If it's scribbles of gang signs or unintelligible signs and wordings, it's basically not art but shit.
The location is important too - is it in an allowed place or area? If it's not, it's a work of a vandalizing criminal and not that of an artist. Goes to show some respect for property if the artist only paints his stuff on legal and permitted areas, and respect goes a long way.

Know any good sites that teach you technique?
