Best game ever played? Skies of Arcadia Legends. Not only was it fun as hell to play, but it had an amazing soundtrack!

I'm most inclined to say Knights of the Old Republic and I'm somewhat surprised nobody mentioned Deus Ex so far.

Story-wise, it's got to be 999 on DS. I picked it up during a holiday. After the first couple of hours, I cancelled all of my schedule for the rest of the holiday just to marathon the game. Ah, good times...
Gameplay, FFVI. Is there anyone who haven't played this yet? You missed something really big in your childhood.

I'm very fond of the "Conflict:" series. i own all four(on xbox): Desert Storm one and two, Vietnam, and Global Terror. Denied Ops does not count because it was a cheap attempt to tack a crap game that was only vaugely similar, on to the originals.
Many people seem to dislike these games. i believe it is because they don't understand how to properly play them. they are asquad based, third person shooters, where you are in control of a four man team, each with special skills(sniper, heavy MG, assult, demolitions, medic, squad leader). direct cotrol can be switched between each team member, and a variety of orders can be given to the whole squad, or individuals.
from the guides and walkthroughs i've seen, not many seem to grasp the versatility of four player characters. most use them only as mobile weapon platforms and pack mules. rather than setting the sniper or MG up in a good position to cover the rest of the team, they just have everyone walk together in a line. why would you bring a sniper to breech a windowless room instead of have him hang back and cover the rear? then use the MG to cover any closer areas that are out of the snipers view. the breech should only be made by the assult unit, backed by the fourth member(in DS, squad leader, in Vietnam, the medic).
ther was a similar game called Brute Force that was in a sci fi setting.

Infamous, Shadow of the Colossus, and the Kingdom Hearts series are some of the games (in my opinion) that I view as one of the best.

Metal Gear Solid Series... what did you expect? I love them and occasionally replay them when I feel like I need to do some relaxed-stealth-world-saving-epic-story-bro-fisting-gameplay. The best of the whole series would be Metal Gear Solid 3: Virtuous Mission & Operation Snake Eater.

Monster Hunter, hands down for meYes. Yes. And more yes. It is an amazing franchise that you can literally pour hours into. I spent 560 hours on MHFU. I would put more in but I no longer have a PSP. But the game play is unique and challenging. The game is full of variety and challenges that have multiple approaches. And it is also a stunning Co-op game. Soloing it is just as intense. And Maxing out the game is in fact the most rewarding thing I have ever done in a video game.

Shadow of the Colossus hands down.
First time playing that and figuring out how to handle these behemoths was amazing. Playing it in 3D is pretty flipping amazing too. THE QUALITY.
Actually, I think it's tied with any Monster Hunter game too, TBH. (same vibe but you know, slay and get armor and weapons, pretty sick (I want Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate NOW))
