Buying a Visual Novel

So since my last thread died due to the server issue, I'm making it again.

After giving it some more thought, I've decided to get one of the following:

-Cross Channel (~$110)
-Fate/Stay Night (~$108)
-Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (~$100)


OR


2-3 of these cheaper ones:

-Deus Machina Demonbane (~$40)
-Koihime Musou (~$48)
-Yume Miru Kusuri (~$35)
-Ai Yori Aoshi (~$9)
-Snow Sakura (~$30)
-Exodus Guilty vol. 1-3 Set (~$15)


*All prices are from J-List except for Koihime Musou


So what do you think? Recommendations? Please keep in mind that I have a budget limit of ~$100.

I would almost say get F/SN just for having such a memorable piece of Visual Novel history in your collection. In fact, I will say that, but that's a lot of money. Yume is a very good game, but again I'm such a huge F/SN fanboy that I am drawn back to it.

I would stress getting one you haven't played already if you haven't played one on there. If you haven't played F/SN definitely get that one, but you're a very avid Visual Novel player from what I've seen, so you've probably played it. I don't think I really helped at all in this besides showing how much of a fanboy I am to F/SN.

Lol it's alright. I'm quite a F/SN fanboy myself. I would love to get it, but the price is pretty steep, so I'm trying to weigh my options and see if it's better for me to get a couple of cheaper VNs instead.

I haven't played Deus Machine Demonbane and Koihime Musou.

In my original thread, I had been searching for Ever 17, but unfortunately the cheapest copy that I can find is on Ebay going for $180...

You should invest in Walkure Romanze out on June 24, 2011 XP

In my opinion getting something for a cheap price so that you can buy another one is a good idea. But that's just me. Now on the other hand you should get FSN since its a really great VN.

Are VNs that expensive oO?

Visual Novels aren't that expensive when they first come out, but those $100+ VNs are now out of print. So every game sold is now a stock of limited media in the market. If it's a mint condition unboxed version I would imagine the price would go a lot higher than the 100s.

Thats why Im getting my Walkure Romanze early.

Other than the only VN I own is Yume Miru Kusuri.

I would, but I have limited knowledge in Japanese... I think I'll stick with something either in English or has an English patch.


... Due to an unexpected expenses, my budget has been cut down to $50. I can't get any of those $100+ VNs right now... So F/SN, Cross Channel, and Sharin no Kuni are out of the question...

-Figures of Happiness (~$25)
-Kana: Little Sister (~$25)

I can either get 1 of the $35+ ones, or a combo of 2 of the cheaper ones... Cause I have to take shipping costs into account.
Which one(s) do you think I should get?

If you can get like at least 5 more bucks, I would say Yume and Hourglass.

Yume Miru Kusuri because it's fucking excellent (and cheap). Oh yeah, and it's officially translated if you care about that.

YMK is only $20 on Play-Asia, but they don't have Hourglass...
So how about YMK and either Kana or Family Project?
The total cost including shipping would come down to $45-49.

I say go with that idea.

Kana: Little Sister, I found it to be a tad bit of a tearjerker. More so with Yume Miru Kusuri.

Dude's on a pretty tight budget. Though buying it would add to the cause so that would be nice.

I already bought Yume Miru Kusuri and Kana. They arrived just yesterday! I'm feeling quite ecstatic.

Edit: I can't get Kana to install OTL... I'm running Windows 7. Everything works up until the end of the installation, upon which the generic Windows message pops up saying the program has stopped working. Any suggestions as to what I should do?
