Yes I set my unicode to Japanese (Japan) beforehand.
EDIT: I have the latest DirectX and have downloaded CCCP per a friend's suggestion, and it still doesn't work.
And I haven't mentioned this before but the scene where he looks at his poster and turns his chair is just a black screen for me. I can hear the creaking noise of his chair, but after that it just crashes.

I think I had this issue too when I didn't have 3d graphic card.
If you don't have one,well, you will have to get one.
If you do have, try updating your drivers for it.

Yeah, I got told the same thing, that my video card was too crap for C;H, which is pretty sad. Also sadly enough, this is a laptop so I can't change it, so I guess I'll have to postpone Chaos;Head for the future :L

Hey, for anyone having problems installing, what I did to make it work, was I extracted everything and put the contents in folders simmilar to the way they were in the RARs, and I put those folders with the patch. This is for anyone who keeps getting a 'File not found' type error when they try to patch

first time i installed(and patched), it's still in japanese. I did many things. Then I reinstalled. After the reinstallation and re-patching, i opened the game and when i start it, it only loops back to the title screen. can you guys help me?

I have flipped through and tried following the solutions i found but none seem to work.
I have my computer in Japanese uni-code and restarted. Then i installed the game to a folder on my desktop to help deal with permission issues. after watching the video on youtube at 2:05 his appears to be running unrar exe however for me it looks like

I have full control for the folder for all users and admins, I am running in unicode, i replaced the exe from no dvd and i ran the .bat as an admin and regardless of whether its in my c drive or in this folder on my desktop i continue to get these errors. Any idea what I need to do?

TO EVERYONE who's having problems installing the English patch, this is how I fixed it:First, install the game to a folder OTHER than program files, because Windows messes up with authorizations, etc.
Then, copy the No Dvd crack to the install folder and replace the original .exe.
Copy the english patch folder to the folder where you installed Chaos Head. (This should be the folder where the ChaosHead.exe is located).
Then, right click on the CHAOS;HEAD folder and edit the permissions so that every one has "full control." Do this by right clicking the folder and clicking on the security tab, then clicking the "Edit..." button and checking allow for "full control" on each of the users (i.e. Authenticated Users, System, Administrators, etc.).
Next, install "take ownership," which allows you to take full control of a folder IN ADDITION TO THE "FULL CONTROL" step above. My patch didn't work until after taking ownership of the folder as well. Google "take ownership" and click on the first link.
After installing take ownership, right click on the CHAOS;HEAD folder and select "Take Ownership."
Then, run the English patch and follow the directions. Hopefully, it will run without any Access Denied errors!
That's it!

did the patch give you any errors?
The only problem that my friend thought might have weird is the part where the patch says the program looks like it's gonna freeze but isn't. My computer says the program isn't responding and it requires me to have click either close or cancel which leads to another popup that says unable to complete operation. I repeat this twice before the patch continues and starts to say "inserting CGs" and finishes the patch.
Other than that, nothing was mentioned.
