Dota 2 v. League of Legends: Which is harder?
Which is harder, Dota 2 or LoL?

I've been seeing a bunch of commotion on these two games, so I was wondering which one I should play (for a challenge). Also, feel free to discuss other aspects of the games.

I'm pretty sure Dota 2 is more difficult than League. But even so I don't think one is better than the other, both games are particularly great in their own ways. It's best not to stoke flames over which is "better".
That's like asking if 2D fighters or 3D fighters/ Counter-Strike or CoD/ Halo or Unreal Tournament are better.
They're not, they are similar, but significantly different and loved for different reasons.

It's opinionated
Dota 2 has a larger burden of knowledge, while League of Legends is more focused on reflexes and quick thinking.

Pretty much all that's been said so far. IMO, this thread should probably be shut down before a flame war has a chance to start. The question's been answered for the most part anyway.

"Shut up, dotafag! Zoning is moar difficult than s2pid right-clicks! Also, moar skillshotz, noob!"

DoTA 2 is way harder then LoL because DoTA 2 was designed that way.
If you step in a rival heroes range for half a second in DoTA 2, your hero is pretty much dead.
Where League is a little more forgiving, you can tower dive and make it out alive.
This doesn't mean one is more enjoyable then the other.

Depends on what you mean by "harder". The players you play with/against makes the game difficult, but there's a lot less margin for error in Dota 2. A few mistakes early game and you're probably not going to come back, provided the other team has some idea of what they're doing. That's what I love about Dota 2, you can look like you're on top of the world playing against a team worse than yours, but also like absolute garbage when it is against players/teams better than your own level.

I'll start. LoL is harder because DotA just copied everything and made it casual.
Personally, I think the entire moba genre is pretty casual and easily played to begin with. I haven't played enough DotA2 to do a in-depth comparison but League seems to have a lot more mechanics for potential comebacks, which is a pretty dangerous design choice regarding the quality of the game. Not to mention the whole rune, mastery and champion unlock bullshit that's massively grindy and partial unfair. It does nothing to the game nor its accessibility if you have a flat +15 damage advantage over the opponent just because your account is older. I still play League because at least I have friends there to play with, hue.

Also, get your facts straight... LoL released 2009, DoTA released 2005.

Dota 2 is much harder than League. I'm sure even most League players will admit this. Of course, just because Dota 2 is harder doesn't necessarily mean its better, but to clarify I do think League is a bit shitty and that Dota 2 is awesome. But yeah, in terms of just a challenge, Dota 2 is harder.

Nah. I played League for hundreds of hours, I think its a good game in its own right and I see why people like it. I just think its kinda crap compared to Dota 2, I'm just a Dota 2 guy. If people like League go for it, I don't really care and I'm not here to argue why I prefer Dota 2.

I will have to pick League of Legends. Dota 2 is an amazing game and I love it, But I find League to be more appealing to me. And I would rather spend time in League then Dota 2.

Been an avid dota player since 2006 so for difficulty level I vote DotA2. Never played LoL because doesn't look so challenging to me...besides MOST of my friends plays Dota.

I think NeoStriker said it best.

From what I've heard DOTA2 is harder due to the champs being overpowered (but somehow they managed to balance it). Example, a DOTA champ has a 7 second stun as an ulti. So imo, DOTA is more of a thinker while LoL is more reliant on quick reflexes (but till needs thinking of coarse). So LoL is more aggressive in terms of game-play.
Also LoL has an outside game influence, it has runes and masteries where you can empower your character in a certain way (More tanky, dps or support). Thus LoL has a leveling system from 1 to 30.
DOTA also has a leveling system, but there is no outside game influence.
Iam about to play DOTA 2 myself so Ill see how it goes.
Btw I do agree that this will spark a flame wars. Some people get really childish when it comes to comparing games. These types of games really boils down to what you've played first, how many friends play and your play-style.

I agree with mostly everything you said except for the stuns.
Seriously, what is up with LoL players and 7 second stuns?
Just to correct you, there are no 7 second stuns in Dota, unless it's a wombo-combo of stuns directed at a single player.
The longest stun is 5 seconds, and it's an extremely hard skillshot to land. Think of Ashe's ultimate, only it's limited to a 3000 range, has an extremely smaller collision radius, hits only 1 unit, and travels slower.
It belongs to Mirana's 2nd skill, Sacred Arrow. It's a 3000 ranged arrow that increases its stun by .05 for every 150 range it's traveled. meaning it has a .05 stun at melee range, but a 5 second stun at 1500-3000.
